- Prepare steel girders, frames, etc. and other surfaces for painting by using various hand tools (Grinders, Wire Wheels, Needle Scaler, Scrappers, Sandpaper) to remove steel surface scale, rust, oil etc.
- Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools. (HVLP spray gun, brushes, rollers)
- Adhere to all health and safety precautions.
- Use personal protection equipment such as grinding shields, face respirators, coveralls, etc.
- Operate overhead cranes and fork trucks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of industrial heavy equipment steel painting techniques.
- Must possess high attention to detail.

Surface Prep / Painter:
The Surface Prep / Painter is responsible for cleaning and prepping steel surfaces and applying paint to various surfaces.
Duties and responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Working conditions
Work is normally performed in a factory setting near mechanical assembly and spray line. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Some condition requires works from an elevated position (i.e. on a ladder, on personnel lift)
Physical requirements
The physical requirements to safely perform the duties of this position include: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, reaching, crouching, good hand/eye coordination for material
handling, touching surfaces to assess quality, gripping vibrating and rotary tools, climbing up/down ladders, verbal communication, and listening to directions.
