Position:
Quality Assurance Technician**
Department:Controlled Machining**
Report to:Engineering Manager**
SUMMARY:
Manage, maintain, and operate the CMM equipment, and gage control system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs inprocess or final process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gages, comparator and CMM.
- Provide 1st piece reports for new projects.
- Follow customerbased layout reporting systems.
- Maintain and update software as required for part layout.
- Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, machining processes and tolerances.
- Must be able to assist manufacturing and engineering personnel regarding part conformance and process capability.
- Maintains and updates the gage control system. (Gage Trak)
- Responsible for gage audits, calibrations, and certifications.
- Support prototype runs for both the foundry and machining departments.
- Provide support for quality rejects for the machining department.
- Provide ongoing inspections of machined castings on the production floor as required.
- Maintain Preventative Maintenance program on CMM and all other inhouse gages precertification requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Understands, implements, and maintains the Company's quality policy through performance of all duties and responsibilities to insure accuracy.
- Support in training operators in the correct way of gaging parts.
- Assisting in making sure that machined parts meet specifications on the blueprint.
- Have a positive and professional attitude.
- Available to work weekends or overtime if required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Must have a strong machining and quality work history.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions, and guidelines
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read advanced blueprints.
- Ability to use various measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, etc.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
