The Department of Physics & Astronomy is recruiting for a junior level Facilities Specialist to join our team This is a full-time onsite career position eligible for full benefits.

Qualifications

1. Demonstrated ability to lift 50 pounds. (required)
2. Skill in using electrical tools, carpet cleaning machines, and specialty tools assembly and repairs of equipment and research apparatus. (required)
3. Skill and ability to perform tasks with mínimal supervision. (required)
4. Ability to take directions and follow tasks through to completion with mínimal supervision. (required)
5. Completion of Physics & Astronomy shop training course for use of Physics Shop Equipment & Machinery. (required)
6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, researchers, students and visitors in the department. (required)
7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written on an individual or group basis. (required)
8. Demonstrated ability to safely operate a forklift to move equipment and deliveries. (preferred)
9. General knowledge of basic laboratory apparatus and sensitive research apparatus and setup or work experience in that area. (required)
