    JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
    Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Sr.

    Manufacturing Engineer ensures the continuous, on-going improvement of manufacturing processes and methods while reducing costs and improving quality, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Analyze, plan, implement and ensure the maximum utilization of human, material and machine assets, work force utilization, space requirements and work flow, and layout of equipment and work space for maximum efficiency of the production processes, while ensuring the safety of personnel, equipment, machinery and the facility.

    Participate on cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing problems and to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods to improve productivity and quality, while reducing costs.

    Research and justify capital equipment expenditures for efficient and economical manufacture of products. Plan, acquire, install and troubleshoot new equipment. Source and price supplies, services, tools and equipment from outside vendors. Order the highest quality supplies, services, tools and equipment at the most cost effective rate. Support production to maintain processes, troubleshooting and resolving problems with the products, equipment or processes.

    Act as the technical resource to customers, lower level engineers, all shifts and other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems related to the manufacturing processes and products.

    Assist in training lower level engineers. Develop and implement plans to reduce scrap through engineering solutions. Develop and maintain process control plans, operation drawings, work instructions and procedures. Train production personnel to ensure thorough knowledge of job performance and TS1649 requirements, equipment operation, etc. Design and develop new fixtures, tooling, gauges, special equipment, molds, etc., for production and inspection. Develop quotes for manufacturing costs for new products. Implement new part numbers for production. Review production blueprints and update as needed. Program CNC machines as needed. Ensure the completion and maintenance of all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc. Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations, and departmental housekeeping standards.

    Skills & Requirements PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
    Requires the use of safety glasses and shoes, and hearing protection as needed when in the manufacturing areas


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

    Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Requires a Bachelors degree in engineering and 7 to 10 years of related experience; or a Masters degree in engineering and 3 to 5 years or related experience


    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical periodicals, professional journals, blueprints, schematics, drawings, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, and others employees of the organization.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry, algebra, calculus and trigonometry.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    Requires a valid drivers license


    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Requires the knowledge of and the ability to apply computers and the appropriate software to the solution of engineering problems, the ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools and precision measuring devices, production machinery and CNC equipment, spectrometers, X-ray machines, and a variety of tool room machines, such as shears, saws, turning equipment, etc.

    Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.
