    Job Description

    Block is looking for an experienced policy and regulatory strategist to serve as our Head of Regulatory Affairs. As a senior level individual contributor, you will develop and execute Block's strategy for proactive engagement with regulators. You will manage efforts to deepen regulatory relationships, track regulatory activity, engage in regulatory development, and find ways to use data and storytelling to deepen regulator understanding of Block and our products. You will ensure Block's purpose of economic empowerment and access to financial systems is well represented to all regulators.

    You Will:

    • Manage high-priority and fast-paced interactions with internal and external partners - including financial services regulators, and colleagues across Block's business, legal, compliance, communications, and policy teams.
    • Develop strategic plans for engagement with regulators
    • Lead company processes to develop thoughtful, inclusive, and cohesive responses to regulators through comment letters, RFIs, etc.
    • Maintain fluency on a variety of regulatory and policy issues at the intersection of financial and technology policy, including financial regulation, consumer protection, tax, cryptocurrencies, AI/machine learning, intellectual property, and privacy.
    • Advocate for Block and our customers on important regulatory matters, and craft positions for us that will establish us as a trusted thought leader and innovator.
    Qualifications

    You Have:

    • 12+ years of experience, with preference for experiences in federal regulatory agencies and within large companies, with a preference for experience in the financial services and technology sectors.
    • A strong background in advocacy and public policy development regarding global financial services issues and policies.
    • The ability to manage high energy and fast-paced interactions with internal and external partners.
    • Experience navigating complex policy issues and working collaboratively across internal departments
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; and an ability to explain complicated issues and policy positions to any audience
    • Curiosity and ability to collaborate
    Additional Information

    Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

    Zone A: USD $217,800 - USD $326,800
    Zone B: USD $217,800 - USD $326,800
    Zone C: USD $217,800 - USD $326,800
    Zone D: USD $217,800 - USD $326,800

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
