We are seeking an organized and self-motivated _Chemical Operations Scientist_ who will be responsible for providing operational support to our company.


Prerequisites

  • BA/BS or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in preparative chemistry laboratory and/or manufacturing facilty with preference for cGMP experience.
  • Experience within the chemical or pharmaceutical industry is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical operations and processing activities with a focus on work in nonGMP and cGMP kilo lab(s).
  • Conduct chemical operations in smallscale glassware (e.g. 15L glass reactors), small scale purification units (e.g. Biotage Isolera or similar system are desirable) in preparation for larger scale manufacturing.
  • Maintain Good Documentation Practice.
  • Willingness to work with high potency compounds is desirable, but not required.
  • Receive, sample, label and ship chemicals and products.
  • Assist chemists in nonGMP and cGMP kilo kilo lab(s) with batch setup, chemical supply staging, preparative chemistry processing, area clean up and vessel clean out.
  • Become proficient in all nonGMP and GMP SOPs
  • Research production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs.
  • Develop, maintain and provide training for J-Star personnel on nonGMP kilo lab processes and procedures.
  • Manage nonGMP kilo lab equipment reservation, check out, clean out and check in processes.
  • Provide overall upkeep, maintenance, organization, and housekeeping of nonGMP and kilo lab suite.
  • Dispose waste and empty containers generated from the kilo lab chemical processing activity and direct the J-Star personnel working on nonGMP kilo lab processes to do the same.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, purchase, replace and install defined kilo labrelated equipment and services.
  • Perform cleaning of chemical processing equipment's and the kilo lab facilities.
  • Ensures kilo lab equipment is maintained in good working order
  • Coordinate and perform requisite monitoring and record keeping for all chemicalrelated permits.
  • Maintain organized and clean kilo lab facility
  • Coordinate kilo lab glassware repair/service with third party provider.
  • Perform all job responsibilities with an uncompromising adherence to appropriate PPE utilization.
  • Carry out job responsibilities with an uncompromising level of safety and professionalism.
  • Complete, understand and acknowledge all J-Star assigned and required training by due dates.
  • Follow all company, site and laboratory Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)related protocols, processes, guidelines and SOPs. Actively participate in EHS discussions with peers and management for continuous improvement of EHS practices.
  • Perform other jobrelated duties and ad hoc facilityrelated projects as assigned by manager.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to walk, stand, crawl, stoop, crouch, bend or reach above and below shoulders height frequently. This job requires twisting and turning of the body and the use of both hands

Education:


  • Bachelor's (preferred)

Experience:


  • CRO: 4 years (preferred)
- chemical production work/chemistry laboratory: 4 years (required)

  • GMP HPAPI LAB: 2 years (preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Cranbury, NJ 08512: Relocate before starting work (required)
