Overview

  • Project Manager to join a high performing project delivery team operating across the MGB service network.
  • Projects could include inpatient and outpatient, research lab, educational, and administrative space types. Also building infrastructure upgrades or replacement.
  • The Project Manager will assist Senior Project Manager with their daily responsibilities on major capital projects that could exceed $100M.
  • Project Manager will independently manage projects with a cumulative value of $10M to $25M under the direction of a Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manages capital projects from design through construction, occupancy and financial closeout.
  • Develops and manages project scope, budget and schedule.
  • Develops and manages a project team comprised of facility administration, architects, engineers, landscape architects, interior designers, signage consultants, lowvoltage system consultants, and MGB Digital (IT) in the development of project plans and specifications.
  • Integrates MGB design, engineering and sustainability standards into project design.
  • Manages the bid process to select a construction manager to implement the project.
  • Manages the progress of construction, reporting potential impacts to schedule, scope or budget before they are unavoidable.
  • Coordinates the delivery and installation of project furnishings and equipment.
  • Utilizes MGB Real Estate's project management systems including Unifier, PeopleSoft, ProCore, Primavera and other similar systems.
  • Coordinates financial management of the project budget with the client and MGB's Projects Control team.
  • Prepares and make presentations to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains accurate and current status reports on all projects under the PM's responsibility.
  • Reviews and processes payment invoices from consultants and construction managers in accordance with MGB and departmental standards.
Qualifications - External


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or certification in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or related discipline required.
  • Five (5) years experience, most recently as a project manager in an architect or engineer's office, for a construction manager, or as an owner's representative is required.
  • Working familiarity with Massachusetts DPH processes and checklists is desirable.

Skills/Abilities:


  • Selfstarter with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, detail oriented, client oriented, organized, able to prioritize tasks and time, able to multitask, enjoys working in a fastpaced environment, flexible, good sense of humor, willing to commit what it takes to do a good job.
  • Knowledge of fundamental components of buildings, including structure, enclosure and mechanical/electrical systems is necessary.
  • Experience with Lean project delivery methodology and practice is desirable.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement by way of additional education, conferences and seminars.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Responsible for managing all project resources, including time and capital.
  • Utilizes all available MGB resources to effectively manage project budgets and risks.
  • Projects managed independently by the Project Manager will be in the $100K to $10M range.
  • Cumulative value of projects managed by the Project Manager will be in the $10M to $25M.

Working Conditions

  • The position is based at MGB's administrative campus at Assembly Row, Somerville, which offers excellent transit access (Orange Line) and employee parking.
  • Remote work is preferred by many MGB Project Managers when it does not compromise offsite meeting and job site responsibilities. Each project comes with unique requirements that defines the need and frequency of inperson meetings. Flexibility and willingness to adjust is necessary.
  • The position requires travel to consultant's offices in and around Boston and to project sites across MGB's service area in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
  • Noise, dust, and hazardous conditions consistent with construction will be encountered.

Pay:
$70, $110,000.00 per year
