SoftwareProficiency in Microsoft Word & Microsoft ExcelProficiency in Bluebeam & various estimating software packages.
General In depth knowledge of plan and specification readingMastery of quantity take-off & subcontractor solicitationMastery of mathematical formulas required to perform quantity take-off and bid evaluationIn-depth understanding of subcontractor bid evaluationDetailed knowledge of mechanical and industrial building systemsBasic understanding of trade sequencingBasic understanding of contract languageBasic understanding of risk managementEssential Function of the position Detailed review of plans and specificationsPerform detailed quantity surveys and input into estimating software for cost estimationConstant communication with the Preconstruction Manager and fellow estimators about unusual situations, possible scope gaps, etc.
Distributes plans and specifications to subcontractors/vendorsSubcontractor/Vendor solicitation and follow up. Must maintain constant communication with and support subcontractors/vendors throughout the bid process.Must provide at least 3 competitive bids on all scopes of work for which he/she is responsible.
Visit subcontractors/vendors as time allows to maintain a good working relationshipProvides support for the subcontractor prequalification effortDevelop RFI's and submit to design leadsAnalyze quotes from multiple subcontractors/vendorsPerform buyout and drafting of subcontracts and purchase ordersAbility to work on multiple projects at the same time under the direction of multiple supervisorsMaintain subcontractor/vendor databaseMaintain an active presence in the industryRelationship ManagementEstablish and maintain relationship with subcontractors and vendorsSupports company community service projects.
