Description

The non-exempt job classification is covered under The McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) and the contract's collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Service employees are compensated per the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits that are set by the U.S.

Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division's WDs 29 CFR Part 541 and 29 CFR 4.163(f), unless otherwise modified by a CBA between labor and management.


Job Summary


As directed, the Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.


Work involves most of the following:

verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.

This worker may operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

Exclude workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving work (see Shipping/Receiving Clerk), order filling (see Order Filler), or operating forklifts (see Forklift Operator).

Essential Functions:


  • Receive incoming material
  • Verify shipments by comparing shipping documents with actual physical material counts from various delivery sources and stage in designated location
  • Unload incoming shipments, scan, or key receipt information into computer system
  • Check for intransit damage and inspect and identify possible hazardous material
  • Prepare receipt document manually if necessary
  • Load, unload, and place supplies, material and equipment in storage areas, receipt areas, shipping areas, and warehouse areas
  • Report tampered or broken seals on containers or damaged or deteriorating incoming shipments to supervisor and onsite government representative
  • Perform material storage functions
  • Groups items together based on receiving voucher information or segregates items according to such factors as condition and type of transaction
  • Store, stack, palletize, and/or rotate items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and special handling requirements
  • Segregate and move materials to holding area or dock and verify item identification on request forms
  • Place unidentified material in the Nonconforming Product Area for identification and/or disposition
  • Perform stock issue functions
  • Issue approved and available NSN's from stock
  • Obtain signature and date from the customer after transfer of material
  • Forward Not in Stock issue requests to Quality Assurance for causative research
  • Perform material shipping functions
  • Generate DRMO document for unserviceable material and submits to designated government representative for approval. Place material in designated location identified for shipment to DRMO
  • Select and assemble items based on priority, type of material, mode of transportation, destination, and type of transaction
  • Annotate WAS with action taken on all material issues, transfers, and receipts
  • Provide inventory support assistance by counting items and properly completing tally listings and other inventory documentation
  • Use automated material identification equipment to move, stack, bin, and select storage locations of items being shipped or received or to inquire on status of items
  • Provide packing and repacking support in the preparation for items/equipment and perform warehousing activities, including receiving storage and shipment via various modes of transportation
  • Use various protective/cushioning techniques for custom packing of items to ensure safe and damage free movement
  • Prepares, processes, and verifies all required documentation.
  • Operate manual and automated packaging equipment as required
  • Other duties as required or assigned within scope
  • Understand and meet established productivity and quality control goals associated with assigned functional area/process
  • Follow established guidelines in performing daytoday routine tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Manuals, and Audit Readiness standards, etc.
  • Understand the Acceptable Performance Levels (APL's) associated with assigned functional work areas / process and work expeditiously to meet contractual and team goals
  • Adhere to government, contract, and company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned in association with established Management and Contract Compliance Plan, and workload requirements, etc.
  • Adhere to PTi quality, safety, and environmental standards
