Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Pastoral Care will serve as a certified chaplain.

This Assistant Director will be informed to understand the professional culture and role of Pastoral Care at EHS and learn about the liaison relationships the Director holds among the community organizations and the Interdisciplinary team.

The Assistant Director of Pastoral Care will work with the Director of Pastoral Care.

The Assistant Director of Pastoral Care will ensure that the Office of Pastoral Care fully utilizes all available resources for the sake of our patients, family, and team members need for cultural, religious and spiritual respect and sensitivity in areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Beyond learning all aspects of Department leadership, the Assistant Director will be specifically responsible to round on clinical area leadership as to make clinically targeted referrals of Pastoral Care resources.

Referrals will be made to all spiritual care resources in Pastoral Care including professional chaplaincy, clinical pastoral education residents and interns, and pastoral volunteer resources.


Responsibilities:


  • Act as a liaison between patient, family and team members during periods of crisis
  • Arrange for religious needs within the Episcopal Health Services system
  • Arrange suitable chaplaincy coverage for other faiths
  • Assist administration in the development of policies/procedures related to religious observances
  • Effective management of Pastoral Operations
  • Organize and conduct all religious services and observances within the hospital
  • Oversight of Professional Pastoral Care Team members
  • Participate in educational seminars/programs of CPE trainees and the community
  • Promote the Highest standard of care
  • Provide Community Connection with Faith Based Advisory Committees
  • Provide pastoral staff as mentors for CPE trainees to train as chaplains

Requirements:


  • Chaplain with religious credentials
  • Graduate (masters level) degree
  • Board certification through a professional chaplaincy organization
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
