    Description
    Women's and Children's Float Pool:
    • The Women's and Children's Float Pool offers a variety of experiences to meet the needs of multiple families in our service line, providing nursing care for patients in the Mother Baby, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Units.
    • The Mother Baby Unit is a 35-bed facility where mothers recover and learn to care for their newborns.
    • The Float Pool nurses are responsible for the care of the couplet dyad (mother and baby) and preparing them with education for discharge.
    • Float Pool nursing responsibilities include providing care such as respiratory support, IV drips, and tube feedings.
    • The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit cares for premature and term babies, providing care including respiratory support and transitioning to bottle feeding.
    • The Pediatric Unit caters to medical and surgical pediatric patients, including common surgeries like appendectomies and tonsillectomies.
    • Each unit has onsite Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, and Respiratory Therapists to support bedside nurses and patients.
    • Maintaining professional growth and development is essential for nurses in this role.

    • Registered Nurses are required to provide direct nursing care, monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and coordinate discharge plans.
    The ideal caregiver:
    • Has at least one year of acute care RN experience in a hospital setting.
    • Works well in a collaborative environment and is compassionate, adaptable, and motivated to learn.
    • Must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and be open to floating around the unit and hospital.
    Responsibilities:
    • Provide direct nursing care, monitor and document patient condition, administer medications, and coordinate discharge plans.
    • Maintain professional growth through education and clinical study.
    Education:
    • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
    Certifications:
    • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
    • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
    • Additional certifications required depending on the department.
    Complexity of Work:
    • Requires critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
    Work Experience:
    • Minimum one year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required.
    • Consideration given to licensed military RN experience.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Requires full range of body motion, standing and walking for extended periods, corrected vision and hearing, and working under stressful conditions.
    • Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
    • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
    Personal Protective Equipment:
    • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment.
