APPLICATIONS ENGINEER -LASER PRODUCTSJOB PURPOSE:
Nikon Metrology is seeking an Applications Engineer to be involved in all stages of the customer experience by providing quality demonstrations, benchmarking, technical support, and training solutions development and implementation for the Laser Radar/Laser Scanning Group.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Provide high quality demonstrations of the Laser Radar/Laser Scanner products (onsite and in-house)Provide technical guidance and solutions during the pre-sales processIdentifying customer technical requirementsBenchmark customer applications, create part programs and/or inspect parts for customersBe a technical expert in product range and share this expertise with colleagues and Application engineersDiscuss high level technical issues and solutions with new and existing customers in the pre-sales processDrive and manage actively the pre-sales process in collaboration with the sales teamParticipate in product/process evaluations and market introduction of new productsFocused development of training programs and customer support documentationSupport the sales team with technical qualification and in depth technical expertiseDeveloping and updating best practice usage of the equipment for internal and external customers.
Working independently to initially address customer issuesProvide support for Laser Radar/Laser Scanner Contract Programming/Inspection and training servicesAssist in trade show preparation, demonstrations, and supportDemonstration equipment and demonstration center(s) upkeepRecommend design improvements to enhance product performance and ease-of-useLog/track customer communications in CRM and/or ticketing systemLog/track demonstrations and projectsProfessionally Represent Nikon at all TimesQUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Min. 2 year technical degree5+ years relevant industry experienceHigh degree of lT literacyKnowledge and experience in metrologyProven experience with customer interactionProficient in EnglishDesirable
Computer programming experience beneficialKnowledge and experience with CAD/simulation beneficialExperience with metrology software packages such as Polyworks, Metrologic, Spatial Analyzer, Geomagic, and VerisurfCOMPETENCIES
A) Functional competencies
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookExperience with metrology/measurement products such as Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM), Laser Scanners, Laser Radar, Laser Trackers, Arms, InterferometersKnowledge of GD&T (ASME Y , blueprint interpretation, ISO, ANSI, SPC and ASNT standardsCommercial feeling - ability to understand customers' needs.
Ability to travel up to 75% domestic and occasional international travel.
Lift and move equipment in and out of cars/vans up to 50 lbs.
