    Job Summary

    The Coordinator, Student Programming provides leadership and direction for a comprehensive student involvement program that supports the university strategy and promotes the intellectual, cultural, personal, and social development of all students. The Coordinator advises the Programming Board organization, supervises student employees, and provides programmatic support for Registered Student Organizations.

    Job Description

    Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
    • Advises the Programming Board Executive Board and oversees daily operations, including event planning, organizational development, and budgeting.
    • Provides guidance on institutional, state, and federal policies related to program initiatives and financial policies. Researches and resolves complex issues that require external support from other units.
    • Creates and coordinates programs to enhance and provide opportunities for students to engage in campus programming activities and the university experience.
    • Assists with the oversight of campus organization programming initiatives to include Programming Board, Registered Student Organizations, and Weeks of Welcome.
    • Creates and implements training for the Programming Board and Student Organization leaders and members in the areas of event planning, leadership development, crisis management, university policy, legal matters, and fiscal responsibility.
    • Encourages innovations and responsibility in program implementation and provides opportunities to practice leadership and organizational skills for student staff and leaders.
    • Assists with developing new initiatives and leading projects to implement programmatic enhancements
    • Implements and participates in campus programming initiatives, such as Late Night Breakfast events, Weeks of Welcome, Eagle Family Weekend, and other ongoing events.
    • Prepares students for leadership roles and responsibilities utilizing best practices and adherence to university processes and protocols. Coordinates and oversees activities that encourage student learning and critical thinking.
    • Provides support and advisement to the programming board and executive board members. Resolves complex contract and programming decisions.
    • Hires, trains, supervises, and assigns daily priorities to student workers in the unit.
    • May supervise assigned Graduate Assistant and/or interns to deliver high quality student life programming.
    • Works collaboratively with Programming Board and other offices to develop programming opportunities to meet various student needs.
    • Creates and implements evaluations, manages data, assessment, and strategic planning initiatives to assess and report growth and effectiveness of the overall and individual programs to supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
    • Oversees the Programming Board and student leaders to mitigate risk, prioritize safety, and adhere to University processes and protocols.
    • Collaborates with vendors to review, develop, and negotiate contracts.
    • Oversees, maintains and provides general strategic planning for the Programming Board and program budgets.
    Other Duties:
    • Represents the department on programs and committees that promote student programming and the development of student leaders.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications for Coordinator I, Student Programming:
    • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
    • Professional full-time work experience in Fraternity/Sorority Life, Student Involvement, Leadership Development, or related field.
    Minimum Qualifications for Coordinator II, Student Programming:
    • This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
    • Professional full-time work experience in Fraternity/Sorority Life, Student Involvement, Leadership Development, or related field.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge and experience with Florida laws concerning student fees, risk management, and student governance.
    • Knowledge and ability to advise or counsel a diverse student population.
    • Knowledge of and experience with evaluation and assessment practices.
    • Knowledge of effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques.
    • Knowledge and ability to use time management techniques to meet competing deadlines.
    • Knowledge of student union philosophy and operations.
    • Knowledge of involvement theories and how they pertain to student success and persistence.
    • Knowledge of educational and student development objectives.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
    • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and environments.
    • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative ways to provide student life activities that meet student needs.
    • Ability to use a personal computer and knowledge of desktop publishing software.
    • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
    • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
    • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.
    Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Student Programming Coordinator Level I or Student Programming Coordinator Level II based on their qualifications.

    Salary commensurate with education and experience within respective pay grade.
