Job Summary:


This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

NATURE OF WORK

  • Performs specialized duties and functions in support of the operations of the jury process for Yuma County Superior Court; processes paperwork and legal forms for jury service procedures, and coordinates jury activities during court trials; provides information and customer service to the public within scope of authority.

Example of Work:

- (Illustrative Only)_ Reviews Request for Jurors order, including number of jurors wanted for trial period; coordinates work to randomly select the determined number of jurors to be summoned; oversees mailing of juror questionnaires; responds to inquiries and questions from citizens and others; maintains records and files associated with jury selection and processing; performs work within scope of authority and according to Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S. - 21); reviews and evaluates questionnaires, applies statutory regulations to determine juror eligibility, and maintains records and files of juror requests, status and appearance; maintains contact with court officials to determine on-going need for jurors during period specified; notifies potential jurors of changes to court schedule and need for appearance; updates website; processes jurors appearing on trial date; records appearances, and notes absences and failures to appear; randomly assigns jurors to courtrooms; reassigns or releases jurors from service based upon need and instructions from judges; responds to inquiries from the public, jurors, attorneys and other interested parties; manages jury funds; processes juror payroll and related expenses; accounts for all jury expenses; correlates juror pay envelopes, thank you letters and other correspondence between the court and the jurors; maintains statistical and financial records, compiles data and provides reports; performs related duties as required or assigned.


Experience and Education:

High school diploma or GED; AND two years' experience as a Courtroom Clerk, preferably in the State of Arizona; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

This classification requires the applicant to pass extensive criminal background checks; a valid Arizona State Driver's License may be required; Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) yearly accreditation is required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a standard office environment and Court facilities.

Preparing, filing, and distributing various types of legal documents; explaining court procedures in a clear, concise, and comprehensive manner to citizens; preparing clear and comprehensive written and statistical reports; working under pressure in a dynamic environment with changing priorities; dealing tactfully and courteously with those seeking information about court functions and activities; closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures; maintaining accurate records; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and court personnel; operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software; communicating effectively verbally and in writing; making arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy.

  • The YCEBT is a selffunded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.

  • Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan
  • Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) or HDHP-HSA with Wellness Incentive.
  • HDHP-HSA Wellness Incentive for Employee Only option can receives upto $240.00 annual contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card.
  • Southwest Service Administrator (SSA)

Mexico PPO Health Plan:
SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan.

The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
