    Legal Prosecution Attorney Job at Texas State



    Brief Description
    As a Legal Prosecution Attorney at Texas State, you will be tasked with performing advanced legal work independently in your assigned area. This involves handling litigation, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and interpreting laws, rules, and regulations without constant supervision. Your role will also include making strategic legal decisions related to the cases you are assigned.

    Detailed Description
    As a Legal Prosecution Attorney, you will evaluate criminal complaints to determine the suitability for prosecution, decide on the charges to be filed, and handle all necessary documentation for indictment. Your responsibilities will involve case evaluation, preparation, and management, representing the state in various legal proceedings, and maintaining effective communication with relevant parties.

    Evaluates assigned cases or lawsuits by:
    • Reviewing documentation
    • Conducting legal research
    • Interviewing witnesses or persons with knowledge of the case
    • Gathering evidence
    • Determining appropriate actions to be taken
    You will also be responsible for representing the State in trials and hearings, which includes conducting jury selection, presenting statements, examining witnesses, and negotiating settlements or plea bargains.

    Job Requirements
    To qualify for this role, you need to have graduated from an accredited law school and hold a valid license to practice law in the State of Texas. Additionally, you must have over two years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on felony cases, civil litigation, or appellate work.
