JOB OBJECTIVE


The
Surveyor assists the Survey Foremen/Party Chief in the researching of historical documentation, surveying and measuring of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, and land division.


REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE- Must be able to read drawings and make any necessary calculations based on the information given.

  • Must be able to use Trimble software and equipment, both GPS and total station instrument.
  • Occupation hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the workplace.
  • Survey field techniques, survey language, conventional equipment, GPS equipment, and other electronic surveying equipment & accessories.
  • Must be able to perform land surveys for maintenance, location, and relocation of section corners through the use of GPS equipment and/or conventional surveying equipment.
  • Must be able to coordinate layout and checkout of each craft's work.
  • Must be able get work done in a timely manner to ensure each craft can get their work done on time.
  • Interface with cartographers, civil engineers, and project managers to develop detail design documentation.
  • Examine land boundaries and property lines by researching previous land records, legal descriptions, survey records, land titles, and other documentation.
  • Survey the site to gather information and precise measurements on geographic, hydrographic, and topographic features.
  • Utilize surveying instruments such as a total stations, builder's levels, robotics, and GPS to measure distances accurately.
  • Create digital maps and reports using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology.
  • Advise clients, architects, and construction managers of any onsite conditions, building defects, or potential environmental impacts within boundary lines.
  • Prepare reports for official property boundaries on leases, deeds, plots, and legal documents.
  • Perform layout work, check asbuilt conditions, and stake out clearing boundaries and reference points on site.

  • Perform construction surveys for area roads, bridges, buildings and other properties.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hivis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steeltoed work boots.
