    The Role


    As the Senior Advisor, Philanthropy Communications, you'll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will lead all philanthropy communications related to our US Programs, developing high-quality content that effectively positions Save the Children with high value donors across individual, corporate, and foundation donor. This content will span multiple channels, ranging from donor proposals and reports to fact sheets and emergency briefs to polished microsites and visually compelling storytelling. Our US Programs are an essential part of Save the Children's impact and strategic focus over the coming years, and the successful candidate will play a central role in helping us to grow and diversify the resources we generate for this work by engaging, expanding and mobilizing key philanthropic audiences to support our domestic work.

    What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

    • Lead the end-to-end creation and editing of content sourced from US national, state, and technical staff to create final donor-facing products including but not limited to reports, proposals, concept notes and fact sheets.
    • Develop excellent communications materials, with an emphasis on identifying, testing and incorporating best practices for leveraging digital capabilities, videos, interactive graphs, as well as a mix of short and long content pieces.
    • Liaise with the Marketing & Growth Operations Strategy team and US Programs Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Research and Learning team to incorporate the latest and most compelling impact data and evidence-based insights into donor communications.
    • Ensure that these products: are grammatically correct; flow logically and present information clearly and concisely; are suited to donors' level of technical program knowledge; and are properly branded.

    Curate Overarching Narrative for US Program Philanthropy (20%)

    • Collaborate cross-functionally with multiple teams (Marketing & Growth Operations Strategy team, US Programs, Campaign, Marketing, Communications) to ensure that all US philanthropic communications reflect the latest thought leadership, ambition and evidence needed to differentiate Save the Children.
    • Develop subject matter expertise on our US programs, work, partners and impact. Maintain a detailed understanding of what our peers are doing and how Save the Children can differentiate ourselves in the current donor market.
    • Develop, approve and continuously oversee the refinement of and updates to donor messaging related to our US program priorities, ensuring that fundraisers have necessary information and documents to successfully execute our fundraising campaigns and external engagement efforts.
    • Interact regularly with fundraisers and program staff to understand projects and donor needs, proactively requesting additional information and clarification as needed to complete projects successfully.
    • Lead knowledge management for US programs philanthropic communications. In coordination with the US Programs Advisor, regularly update functional knowledge sharing mechanisms, including internal writing tracker and SaveNet pages.

    Support other Impact Communications and Operations Team work as required (20%)

    • Surge as needed on US-program related communications for public donors
    • Support other Impact Communications work for international programs, policy and advocacy
    • Collaborate closely with the Advisor, US Program Private Partnerships to form a two-person team that connects US Program staff, fundraisers and donor audiences with joined-up donor strategy and communications narrative

    Required qualifications for the role

    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
    • Strong professional writing skills with proven ability to write compelling content that engages high value donors.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate program-oriented technical information to high-net-worth donors with varying degrees of technical sophistication
    • Adept at sourcing and displaying multi-media assets within our internal repository including photos, videos and graphics.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals, fundraisers, and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
    • Demonstrated success in conceptualizing, developing, managing and executing high-level communications products
    • Project management skills with proven ability to work as part of a multi-faceted international team
    • Attention to detail and the ability to translate complex program language into donor-friendly content
    • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, manage time wisely, work independently and as part of a team, communicate with impact, perform under tight deadlines and be adaptive to change
    • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
    • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

    Preferred qualifications for the role

    • Understanding of non-profit fundraising and US non-profit issues
    • Proficiency in InDesign, Shorthand, Flourish, Canva or other creative platforms
    • Experience working with high value donors
    • Understanding of digital communications and channels

    Compensation


    Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

    • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $119,425 - $133,475 base salary
    • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $107,525 - $120,175 base salary
    • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $96,050 - $107,350 base salary

    The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here ).
