The Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in the Berlin Research Association (IZW), part of the Leibniz Association, aims to understand and improve the adaptability of wild animals in the context of global change.

To achieve this, the institute investigates the diversity of living organisms, mechanisms of evolutionary adaptation, and adaptation limits, including diseases of wild animals in both human care and in the wild, and their interactions with humans and the environment in Germany, Europe, and overseas.

The institute fulfills this mission through long-term, applied, interdisciplinary basic research in evolutionary ecology, ecological dynamics, evolutionary genetics, wildlife diseases, reproductive biology, and reproductive management.


In the Reproductive Biology department of the Leibniz IZW, we are looking for a
Department Assistant (part-time, 50%) starting on May 1st, 2024 (m/f/d).

In this exciting scientific environment, you will work directly with the department head as their assistant. The position is initially limited to 2 years.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Organizing and maintaining scientific primary data, as well as managing and maintaining databases for tracking scientific achievements
  • Organizing and documenting occupational safety measures
  • Assisting with the application process for publicly funded projects (national and EU) and contract management (preparation of MTAs, MoUs)
  • Managing the import and export of scientific samples
  • Contributing to and maintaining online platforms (social and scientific media,
