Our Milhouse team is searching for a
Billing Project Accountant

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented team member who is able to work independently to support the accounting functions of our rapidly growing organization.

This position will be supporting our Finance team with day-to-day project operations and more.

You will work closely with Engineering and/or Construction Leaders, Project Managers and Engineers as they move through the billing cycle for their assigned technical projects servicing the Utiliy, Design Build, Facilities Design, Roadway Design and alike industries.

As such your industry experience within Architecture, Engineering and Construction is required. So too is your Deltek system experience to really hit the ground running in this role.

What you will do:

Prepare invoices for all assigned projects on a monthly, interim, and milestone basis
Enter all financial paperwork into the accounting system to ensure timely and accurate job cost information. This includes owner and sub change orders, owner billings, budget transfers, subcontractor pay requirements, payroll and accounts payable invoices, etc
Monitor and collect aged receivables
Responsible for project cost/schedule monitoring, which includes monitoring of actual vs. financial percent completes, provide suggestions for proactive cost control improvements, monitor employee hours charged to projects on a weekly basis and monitor subconsultant/subcontractor invoices/payments against the contract terms
Responsible for understanding the areas of compensation and payment clauses, overhead rates, revenue enhancers per the contractual terms of a project
Understand the nature of the project cost systems and the information processed. Bring issues to the attention of the Controller and the Project Manager for assistance and further evaluation
Provide information to appropriate staff regarding project status
Participate in project kick off and review meetings with Project Managers, Section Managers and Vice Presidents
Manage processes for projects with special requirements such as certified payroll, special reporting, etc.
Respond to client and internal staff inquiries regarding billing, invoices, expense reports and other financial matters
Process accounts payable
Respond to vendor inquiries
Maintain vendor and billing files
Filing, copying and other duties as assigned
Must be able to handle multiple projects and changing priorities, working in a cooperative team environment, which includes crosstraining with coworkers

What we are looking for:

Strong multitasking organizational and analytical skills to define problems
Competent accounting and internal control skills as related to project entities/ contracts
Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner
Ability to interpret and manage various project accounting data and documents
Strong Excel skills
Knowledge in Deltek software required
Previous Engineering or Construction industry experience required (or Utility experience).

Your background:

Associate degree or higher in a financerelated field
5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in Engineering or Construction industry
Experience demonstrating the ability to: prepare and review invoices
Experience working with large utilities such as First Energy, ComEd etc. (client portfolio) or similar engineering clients.
