    Description

    New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit faith-based federation of faith communities, human services providers and charitable organizations who work in partnership to provide disaster readiness, response, and recovery services to New York City. NYDIS' affiliate, the NYC Emergency Shelter Network (ESN) coordinates and builds the capacity of congregation-based street homeless shelter services and advocacy as well as Asylum-Seeker shelters and service centers along with homeless mitigation initiatives. NYDIS currently has a $40M annual operating budget and up to 75 employees.

    The Warehouse & Inventory Manager plays a crucial role in the smooth and safe management and operation of our warehouse, located in Industry City in Brooklyn from which shelter supplies, clothing and disaster response equipment are distributed across the five boroughs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory and distribution management, staff supervision experience, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for making a difference in the community. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate the receiving, storage, and distribution of shelter supplies and clothing donations to over 50 shelter and operations sites. The Warehouse & Inventory Manager will report directly to NYDIS' Director of Operations and will work onsite at our Brooklyn Warehouse. Saturday or Sunday hours will be required in addition to 4 weekdays - days and evenings.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide day-to-day management and supervision of the warehouse, two staff, and, when onsite, volunteers.
    • Collaborate with the Assistant Warehouse Manager to maintain, operate and schedule Sprinter Van use.
    • Coordinate all Warehouse Operations and NYDIS Program needs in collaboration with Senior Staff
    • Manage delivery scheduling with donors and their trucking/shipping contractors.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records of all items received and/or donated to NYDIS.
    • Implement and enforce efficient inventory control procedures to track donations, purchases, and distributions.
    • Collaborate with NYDIS' Volunteer Manager to facilitate volunteer sorting and inventory of goods.
    • Coordinate the timely and accurate distribution of clothing and supplies to a vast network of sites.
    • Collaborate with Site Operations Managers to fill supply and clothing requests in a timely manner.
    • Train and supervise volunteers to assist with warehouse inventory.
    • Provide guidance and support to volunteers to ensure a positive and productive working environment.
    • Using NYDIS' Inventory Software, track inventory and generate regular inventory reports on inventory counts distribution activities, and other relevant metrics.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
    • 3-5 Years experience in inventory management and control, preferably in a warehouse setting.
    • Knowledge of best practices in inventory control and distribution for nonprofit organizations.
    • Physically able to operate a Pallet Jack and experience driving Sprinter Vans or similar vehicles.
    • Driver's license with clean driving record.
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups, including volunteers.
    • Must be able to work well under pressure while multi-tasking.
    • Impeccable attention to detail.

    Salary range, $65,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience - with excellent benefits.
