Duties:


  • Implements, adapts, modifies and periodically develops technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements.
  • Calibrate test, measurement and diagnostic equipment to define the accuracy and uncertainties of the equipment.
  • Prepare test and certification reports containing values, corrections, and/or uncertainties for calibrated instruments.

  • Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Employee must pass a preappointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR ~ without more than normal supervision.

Ability to perform calibration operations on various types of electronic, electrical and/or electromechanical measurement systems; prepare reports to provides technical information used in the decision making process for the development of documents used for TMDE certification; perform repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications; interpret simple technical procedures and schematics in order to adapt them to calibration assignments; and diagnose or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
