    Job Title: Management Information System (MIS) Director

    Department: MIS

    Reports to: VP of Managed IT

    Summary:

    The Management Information System Director (MIS Director) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all computer-related activities within an organization. They help determine the company's information technology goals and are responsible for implementing computer systems to meet those goals.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Development and Design of Computer Systems

    • Collecting data related to the necessary tech specifications of each department and developing and analyzing computer systems that fit those specifications is a core duty of the MIS Director. In addition, overseeing the maintenance of these systems to make sure all departments are operating efficiently is an ongoing duty related to this area.

    Vendor Management

    • The MIS Director builds a good working relationship with the vendor partners required by the organization to sustain support of both the internal and the external business ventures of the company. The Vendors and Partners will need to work with the MIS Director to setup appropriate contracts and the MIS Director will need to meet with each of the respective Vendors and Partners to ensure we are getting the best possible pricing as well as maintenance agreements on all equipment and software purchases made for ourselves and our customers. The MIS Director will perform negotiation and administration of service agreements and contracts with vendors and partners.

    Hardware and Software Management

    • The MIS Director plans an appropriate budget for software and hardware systems and supervises the purchase of such systems. Once purchased, the MIS Director develops strategies that can be successfully used as the software and hardware systems are integrated into the organization as seamlessly as possible.

    Research and Evaluation

    • The MIS Director, keeping current with the latest technologies and implementation processes is necessary to accomplish duties, such as researching and evaluating different technologies for enhancements or upgrades to servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure equipment currently in place. In addition, this knowledge helps with analyzing IT systems and infrastructure to make recommendations for improvement and growth. The MIS Director must be certified or at least well versed in ITIL and ITSM as it is a critical part of the responsibilities of this role.

    Staff Management

    • Providing the training and resources needed for subordinates who are involved in the implementation and maintenance of new software systems is a key responsibility for the MIS Director. The MIS Director will conduct regular evaluation discussions with each employee to ensure that these employees are achieving and excelling at all areas of responsibility. The MIS Director is also responsible for scheduling attendance at appropriate career training, trade shows, customer events, etc. to ensure the success of the team and the organization.

    Digital Security Management

    • Managing risk is a critical role in protecting the company's data. The identification, assessment and mitigation of risk in relation to software, hardware, system interfaces and connectivity is an essential job duty for the MIS Director. In coordination with the addition, the MIS Director is involved in making sure that there is a balance between operational vs. economic costs of digital security systems.

    Cross Team Coordination

    • The MIS Director must coordinate within the organization to ensure proper team interactions with Sales, Operations, Security, DevOps, NOC, HR, Marketing, etc. to ensure customer support and cooperation is a top priority. The MIS Director will meet regularly with other department heads to ensure that the direction and goals of the department meet the needs and the expectations for each and every team within the company.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems (CIS)
    • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience
    • skills
    • Practical experience with a variety of MIS tools, applications, and concepts such as ERP, CRM, Active Directory, Computer Networking, TCP/IP, Endpoint Security, etc.
    • Experience with a broad range of applications and software
    • Analyze problems and discover the best ways to solve them
    • Certified with at least CompTIA A+, Network+ or other equivalent technology certifications
    • Develop and implement strategies to achieve organizational goals aligned with the methodology in line with ITSM and ITIL
    • Communicate clearly to superiors and give understandable instruction to subordinates by creating reporting of appropriate KPI's and setting quarterly goals with each team member
    • Allocate resources effectively to reach organizational goals and meet the SLA's defined by each service being offered
    • Understand and have experience and expertise with Change Management, Problem Management, Incident Management, Service Level Management, Helpdesk Management, etc. as indicated within the best practices of ITIL
    • Lead and motivate teams to promote efficiency and effectiveness
    • Proven ability to successfully manage a team of several subordinates

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
