U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Systems Engineer. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN

Essential Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for attaining the highest availability targets of our global Microsoft SQL database systems on-prem and in the public cloud. This involves identifying and measuring areas of opportunity, optimizing processes, designing, and implementing automation capabilities; all while understanding how this may change in the public cloud with its DB PaaS capabilities. This position primarily works with the SQL Operations team managing SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments. Specific duties include: 1) work with internal cloud enablement teams to bring best-in-class operational capabilities for our cloud-hosted databases; 2) manage and maintain data definitions in all production and non-production databases and replication servers; 3) manage database distribution, security, and access requirements; 4) design and develop logical and physical layers of databases; 5) install and maintain database software; 6) monitor performance and perform database training and assists application developers; 7) perform back-up, recovery, archiving, and conversions; 8) build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user's specialized role; 9) design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views; 10) define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner; 11) use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data; 12) provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users; 13) determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards; 14) perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity; 15) implement CI/CD automation and create schedules using Gitlab to execute database deployments and checkouts; and 16) create custom T-SQL procedures, develop user defined functions and apply constraints and triggers based on the requirement. This position utilizes the following tools and technologies: MSSQL Server, Powershell, PowerBI, Solarwinds, Splunk, Gitlab, Azure, Terraform, Liquibase, Ansible and AWS. Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering and 5 years related (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience managing SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) implementing CI/CD automation and creating schedules using Gitlab to execute database deployments and checkouts; (2) creating custom T-SQL procedures, developing user defined functions and applying constraints and triggers based on the requirement; (3) performing tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity; (4) using high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data; and (5) utilizing the following tools and technologies: MSSQL Server, Powershell, PowerBI, Solarwinds, Splunk, Gitlab, Azure, Terraform, Liquibase, Ansible and AWS.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $116,584 - $171,000.00
