Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver who takes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a specific period.

The RN II provides care to patients utilizing various methods, including the nursing process and collaboration with other healthcare team members.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs continuous assessment/data collection, focusing on various patient needs such as physiologic, psychosocial, and cultural aspects.
  • Develops a goal-oriented plan of care when appropriate.
  • Implements care consistently and skillfully.
  • Establishes care priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
  • Identifies and addresses patient/family learning needs.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient/family rights and beliefs.
  • Establishes effective relationships with healthcare team members and patients.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately and evaluates care given by team members.
  • Utilizes effective communication methods and safety principles.
  • Participates in staff development and maintains professionalism.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities and nursing research.
  • Identifies and solves problems efficiently.
  • Demonstrates a service-oriented approach in all interactions.
  • Provides necessary data for staffing decisions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Documents patient care accurately and promptly.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • One year recent experience in Mother-Baby/Perinatal/Post Partum or completion of a MomBaby Training Program
  • High School Diploma/GED and completion of a registered nursing program
  • Registered Nurse License (California), Basic Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of RN scope of practice
  • Commitment to service orientation
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Cross-training to other Maternal Child Health/Family Centered Care areas

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of breastfeeding education preferred
