Primary Purpose:


The director will oversee effective implementation of the District's CTE Program, develop instructional framework responsive to CTE students, ensure compliance with state and federal laws, provide instructional leadership, develop and institute a professional development plan to ensure high standards of instructional service to all students, including members of special populations.


Minimum Qualifications:


Education/Certification
Master's Degree

Texas Principal or appropriate administrator certificate

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate

Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser _(or obtain within 90 days)_


Required Experience:

Minimum three (3) years' administrative and/or leadership experience


Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Working knowledge of federal and state code governing CTE

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Ability to implement policy and procedures

Management style compatible with the position

Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of standard for CTE facilities, supplies, and materials

Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Ability to interpret data

Instructional Management
The director promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:

  • Align CTE programs with relevant certifications, licensures, and industry requirements to the greatest extent possible.
  • Coordinate, research, and inform the instructional programs in CTE.
  • Coordinate the review and selection of instructional materials and supplies in CTE program.
  • Plan, coordinate, communicate, and facilitate the implementation of new instructional programs in CTE.
  • Develop, manage, and allocate of the annual budgets for CTE programs.

Data Management and Analysis
The director assists with fostering analytical and collaborative environment activities such as the following:

  • Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents.
  • Respond promptly to all internal data requests and ad hoc research projects for District and campus administrators.
  • Use technologyrich data to collect, organize, and analyze assessment data to determine the extent to which all students at all levels are achieving state and federal standards.
  • Analyze dynamic regional market data to offer suggested CTE programing and staffing requirements.
  • Direct the effective implementation of the district's improvement plan addressing CTE.

Organization Management and Improvement
The director manages administrative, fiscal, and facilities functions responsibly through activities such as the following:

  • Participate and guide CTE development at the campus and District level.
  • Collaborate with core content to effectively integrate core curriculum priorities with CTE.
  • Assist in CTE programmatic planning, including course selections, coherent sequencing, and modification.
  • Review CTE program offerings to ensure alignment with job opportunities within the area and state.
  • Ensure processes are in place to provide assistance to students making career choices.
  • Assist special education and general education personnel in correct placement of students with special needs in CTE classes.
  • Establish systematic procedures for identifying accomplishing goals.
  • Organize and assign CTE resources to maximize student achievement, increase positive teacher performance, and increase capacity of district and campus staff.

Communication and Community Relations
The director promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:

  • Consult with parents, staff, and students.
  • Manage CTE social media accounts and direct CTE promotional activities.
  • Maintain vibrant CTE Advisory Committee.
  • Foster collaborative educational efforts among members of the total school community.
  • Seek support for school programs and involve himself or herself in community activities that foster rapport between the school district and the larger community.
