    COASTAL HORIZONS CENTER, INC. - JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB TITLE: Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) Therapist

    SUPERVISED BY: Pender Program Director

    REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduation from a four-year college or university in human services or related field and two years of progressive substance abuse counseling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Graduation from a Master's degree program in clinical or substance abuse treatment counseling
    • NCSAPPB Licensure as a LCAS; LCSW or LPA, or LPC, or provisionally status; or Possession of NCSAPPB certification as an LCAS
    • Have skills and experience in mental health case management

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

    Provides independent diagnostic, psycho-social and professional counseling for clients (adult & adolescents) with complicated substance use / addictive, mental health and co-occurring disorders- with an appropriate level of supervision. Works as part of Post Overdose Response Team to connect overdose survivors to treatment. Connects individuals who have overdosed or are at high risk of overdose to outpatient therapy and medication assisted treatment when appropriate. Provides education and training on naloxone administration and distribution. Involves some community based work including meeting with partner agencies, meeting with survivors of overdose, and reducing barriers to treatment connection.
