DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW


Physical Planning, Development & Operations (PPDO) manages and oversees all University activities and services related to physical and environmental planning, design and construction, engineering, physical plant maintenance and operations, capital planning and space management, and the associated business services necessary to support these functions.

The University's main campus is spread across more than 2,000 acres and includes over 500 buildings comprising more than 8 million square feet.

The department includes operating budgets of over $54 million, manages a project portfolio of approximately $950 million, and employs over 370 full-time staff to carry forth the duties necessary for the campus' development and operation.


JOB SUMMARY


The Facilities Analyst provides professional analytical services that guide the physical development of the campus and assists in the strategic development and improvement of buildings and space to support UCSC's mission of research, teaching, and public service.

The incumbent supports both the methods and the practice of collecting and analyzing data and other activities in support of space management projects within the unit.

Utilizing project planning concepts and knowledge of facilities best practices, the Facilities Analyst directs work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

The incumbent directs and implements the creation of campus database systems, maintains campus space inventory records, conducts analysis to support space and capital planning projects, acts as liaison to the UC Office of the President, and is responsible for the creation and delivery of system-wide reporting.


The Facilities Analyst provides reports and analysis of campus space, coordinates with campus technical experts, generates and manipulates large data sets, manages databases to comprehensively manage campus space and space use, and generates analytics for capital planning, space management, and capital outlay.

The Facilities Analyst utilizes knowledge of database system programming and has advanced proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office suites, AutoCAD, and the ability to use other communication and presentation software.


APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

Budgeted Salary:
$85,000 - $95,000/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.


Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role.

The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.

JOB DUTIES
50% - Data Management

  • Supports the management of multiple largescale data sets and campusspecific databases and supports the campus client's use of these systems.
  • Uses Google and Microsoft products and AutoCAD software.
15% - Analysis

  • Applies analytical concepts to analyze and resolve difficult or complex planning and space management issues.
  • Uses metrics to supply data analysis.
  • Develops presentations and reports for internal analysis, and for delivery to leadership and the UC Office of the President.
15% - Client Management

  • Supports campus clients, ensuring efficient project development through coordination with campus partners.
  • Supports the development and delivery of presentations to leadership and the UC Office of the President.
  • Prepares reports and documents for the campus and UC Office of the President.
10% - Process Improvement

  • Makes recommendations, and implements improvements to operating procedures to improve operating efficiency.
  • Develops training materials, trains coworkers and colleagues.
  • Assists in the operations of the unit.
10% - Administrative Support

  • Oversees meetings, software licenses, and reporting.
