The Nursing Assistant, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or the Charge Nurse, is responsible for the delivery of certain elements of patient care, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Nursing Assistant Part Time in Obstetrics Unit at Northwest Health - Porter Hospital

  • Part time: 12 hours per week, 12 hour shifts
  • Eligible for health benefits, which can include your spouse and/or children

About this unit:


  • Porter is a Level III Obstetrical Service and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which certifies that the hospital is capable of providing specialty management of severe maternal/fetal complications._
Porter is pleased to offer Northwest Indiana's first 24/7 OB emergency department (OB ED). This service enhances patient safety and care by ensuring that a board-certified physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.

Nurses in this unit can expect to care for patients experiencing the following:


  • Concern about preterm labor
  • Pelvic pain
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Urological conditions, such as bladder infections or urinary tract infections
  • Conditions related to highrisk pregnancy (example: high blood pressure)
