    Position Summary:

    Under the direction of the Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and in collaboration with a fully integrated New Journeys clinical team, the Therapist/Individual Resiliency Training (IRT) Clinician works with program participants (i.e., individuals ages 15-25 or older who have experienced a first episode of psychosis) to help them set and achieve their personal recovery goals. The Therapist/IRT Clinician should have a recovery orientation to treatment and be able to work as part of an integrated, collaborative team of professionals dedicated to empowering adolescents and emerging/young adults to achieve optimal role functioning at school, work, social and leisure adjustment, self-care skills, and a sense of positive well-being and purpose.

    Responsibilities:

    • Help program participants to identify, develop, and achieve their personal recovery goals, including by teaching them about psychosis and skills for managing it, processing the experience of psychosis, developing coping skills for stressful situations and persistent symptoms, reducing self-stigmatizing beliefs, helping them learn social and resilience skills, and addressing challenges related to achieving their recovery goals
    • Utilize the Individual Resiliency Training (IRT) curriculum with clients, including the core set of Standard modules and additional modules based on individual client needs and goals
    • Prevent or address problems related to substance use or heath (e.g., smoking, poor nutrition, sedentary lifestyle)
    • Meet with clients on a weekly or biweekly basis for about 6-12 months, then move to monthly check-ins (this varies according to individual needs and preferences)
    • Conduct psychosocial functioning assessments
    • Attend any initial and ongoing New Journeys and IRT training and/or meetings required by program contract and supervisor to continue to improve New Journeys Program
    • Attend IRT supervision and consultation calls
    • Attend weekly New Journeys team meetings and update other team members on clients progress and difficulties in learning information and skills as the clients work toward their goals. Strategize with other New Journeys team members to overcome obstacles
    • Assist with addressing client problems noted by other New Journeys team members
    • If there is not a separate case manager on the team, the IRT Clinician may be responsible for identifying and addressing the clients case management needs
    • Provides continuity of care in support of established client/therapist relationships and best practices, coordinates care with providers internally and outside of the agency with a Release of Information.
    • Is responsible for maintaining safety precautions and constructive, professional relationships with other providers including medical providers, Crisis, Supportive Housing, and other Outpatient Team members where release of information and consent to do so have been given
    • Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources, coordinates consumer treatment with other providers, and initiates referrals to medical providers and other community resources when appropriate
    • Report and document all services in the Electronic Medical/Healthcare system to maintain medical and provider records, as well as other systems required per contracts and supervisors
    • Complete appropriate documentation for services provided within required timeframes, typically no later than 5pm the following day of the service
    • Documentation of all non-billable services and activities in the New Journeys Google, excel, and/or other docs to show productivity not represented in the Electronic Medical Record
    • Attend all other required supervision, meetings, clinical training, and other trainings asked to attend by management
    • Attend any community meetings asked to attend by supervisor
    • Promote Catholic Charities New Journeys Program and other programs while meeting with other resources while in the community.
    • Maintain productivity level at a pre-determined percentage of billable services with clients, or for clients
    • Work with New Journeys Program Manager to ensure QA and other designated duties, are conducted on consumer files and related services
    • Read and become familiar with the NAVIGATE Individual Resilience Training (IRT) Manual and appendices, as well as the NAVIGATE Team Members Guide
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:

    Physical Requirements:

    This position normally requires that physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. Position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision and skill.

    Non-Physical Requirements:

    Education

    • Masters degree in Behavioral Sciences or Social Work is required.

    Experience

    • At least 1 years experience in the treatment with seriously disturbed adults or adolescents and their families
    • Experience with adolescents and young adults is an advantage, but not required.
    • A background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills (i.e., social skills training, cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, coping skills training, relaxation training, and psychoeducation) is desirable but not required

    Special Skills

    • Strong individual clinical skills
    • Ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and as a team member
    • Possess and utilize effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
    • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community

    Licensure, Registration, Certification

    • LMHCA, LICSWA, LMHC, LICSW, Agency Affiliated License
    • Valid Washington State drivers license andrequired minimum liability insurance for WA State
    • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider

    Employment is conditional upon:

    • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
