    IT System Administrator III - Austin, United States - Southwest Key Programs

    Job Summary:



    The Systems Administrator is a key role within the Southwest Key Programs IT team. You will be responsible for providing support to all server and network infrastructure, diagnostic and problem resolution for all infrastructure hardware, software and related peripheral devices.

    Essential Functions:

    • Pro-actively administer Microsoft-based infrastructure environments.
    • Identify system reliability issues and drive tool/process improvements to correct determined problems.
    • Provide guidance on new technologies, implementation plans, business impact, etc. Must have a high level of competence with how plans and recommendations are presented.
    • Work with core IT network and server administrators in systems management (security, patching, etc.), as well as necessary troubleshooting.
    • Support on-prem and private/public cloud infrastructure.
    • Perform some network configuration changes (vpn tunnels, ACL list changes, etc.).
    • Ensure system performance optimization in production environments along with capacity management.
    • Assist in planning and deployment of new technology initiatives.
    • Support backup platform(s).
    • Support Office 365 and other email/collaboration platforms.
    • Installs, configures, reconfigure, modifies, moves and/or relocates infrastructure equipment.
    • Engage with external partners to resolve support and warranty issues.
    • Processes timely and accurate information to ensure compliance with vendor warranty requirements.
    • Documents problem, service, and resolution data into ticket tracking system in a timely, thorough and accurate manner.
    • Help to define key metrics for monitoring infrastructure along with SLA's for supporting availability.
    • Provides, reviews, and updates troubleshooting/procedure documentation and knowledge base articles.
    • Continuously improves knowledge base by internally generated research and development initiatives.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • BA/BS degree and 12+ years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

    Additional Requirements

    • Understanding of ITIL, Agile & Waterfall Methodologies preferred. Understanding security 'best practices.'
    • Ability to put together formal project plans for technology changes. Should have examples of previous technology recommendations and be able to discuss the methodology used for recommendations.
    • Ability to formally present data to drive the decision-making process for technology opportunities.
    • Experience with MS Azure.
    • Experience working on multiple projects; 3-5 at varying stages.
    • Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications including OneNote, Teams, Visio.

    Additional Experience

    • Experience with Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office products, network printing and troubleshooting, Office 365, mainstream software products, security best practices and methodology, LAN/WAN fundamentals.
    • Proven experience in solving complex problems for individuals or teams. Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercising critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills.
    • Strong work ethic, as well as the ability to prioritize and complete all job responsibilities in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with timeline pressures. Must be responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive solutions.
    • Past history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time. Possess a positive attitude and willingness to work in a constantly changing customer-driven environment.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
    • Ability to lead via influence and collaboration; strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making
    • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.
    • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
    • Experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

    Physical Demands:


    Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

    Work Environment:


    General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
