The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, is seeking applications for the role of Division Chief of Neonatology. Exceptional candidates have the opportunity to be considered for the Jean and George W. Brumley Endowed Chair.
The Division of Neonatology at MUSC plays a key role as the Level III Perinatal Regionalization Center in southeastern South Carolina and stands as the sole Level IV Center in the state. Recognized as a top Neonatology program by US News and World Report, the division comprises 13 faculty, around 30 APPs, and 9 neonatology fellows. MUSC also hosts the only Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship in the state alongside the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship.
The neonatal intensive care facilities, housed on the 5th floor of the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children s Hospital, provide a cutting-edge environment with 82 beds, including specialized care units for single patients, mother-baby couplets, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, supported by a dedicated procedure room. With a robust annual delivery rate and a high number of admissions, the Division's transport teams handle a significant portion of the NICU admissions, offering various transport modes for neonatal care.
The Division is dedicated to delivering exceptional clinical services and spearheading innovative research initiatives. Key areas of focus include neonatal nutrition, kidney and neural injuries, epidemiology, research quality improvement, and collaborative projects with specialized pediatric and adult research teams.
