Overview:


Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a
full-time opportunity for a Surgical Registered Nurse
in San Bernardino, CA.


Provide family planning, prenatal, and/or abortion services to patients in accordance with Board of Registered Nursing and Planned Parenthood regulations and protocols.

Provide quality patient care by providing contraceptive, prenatal and abortion education and assessment. Facilitate referrals to internal and external referral sources.

Qualifications:

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:


  • Current California Nurse License.
  • CPR and ACLS certification required.

Minimum Education:


  • AS/BS in Nursing.
  • Preferred Maternal Child Health (MCH) education, including family planning.

Minimum Work Experience:


  • 12 years of ambulatory, reproductive health care, prenatal, and/or abortion services required.
  • Med/surgical experience preferred.

Language Requirements/Preference:


  • Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish).

Other Requirements:


  • Possess a warm, caring manner and excellent customer service skills and relate well to diverse communities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, communicate and interact well with staff, volunteers, and patients.
  • Required to take afterhour calls up to six days annually.
  • Availability to work flexible hours and at all locations within PPOSBC as required.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team approach and communicate and interact well with staff, volunteers, and patients.
  • After orientation, must be capable of adjusting to patient flow per agency guidelines.
  • Ability to relate to diverse communities.

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and locations within PPOSBC, as required.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate high level computer skills including; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other nonclinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.

  • Adhere to agency's policies, procedures, and protocols in regards to performing physical exams, procedural skills, judgement, charting and communication with patients. This may include successfully completing agency, regional and/or state certification requirements.

  • Provide clinical and surgical services as outlined in the PPOSBC Medical Standards and Guidelines, Standardized Procedures, and Policies and Procedures, and any other guidelines recommended by the affiliate.
  • Meet quality metrics and goals.
  • Participate in a team approach to patient care, and deliver care in a professional, confidential, and expeditious manner.
  • Act as resource person to medical staff.
  • Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time inclinic, and on the system for addressing client complaints.
