    About the team and position:

    Carvana's Vehicle Experience (VEX) Team creates products that allow our customers to learn about and experience each vehicle in a completely virtual setting that surpasses the experience of seeing that exact vehicle in person.

    We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join us, leading a team launching new products and increasing resilience for a critical portion of the Carvana ecosystem. You will be involved in the technical details of crafting beautiful, unique, and technically cutting-edge products while also working with our product teams to ensure Carvana can deliver the highest caliber experience to our customers.

    You will join a team of highly competent, driven, and supportive engineers in our Atlanta office and across the country.

    What you'll be doing:
    • Lead your team in designing and building our new experiences while diving deep with internal partners to launch new products
    • Hire and develop your engineers, helping them learn and achieve their own goals while holding them - and yourself - to high engineering standards
    • Develop efficient processes, ensuring the engineering team is operating with high velocity, quality, and ownership
    • Focus your team on increasing resiliency and uptime while decreasing the blast radius of software changes and tracking and improving customer-facing metrics
    • Work with our product, design, and operations teams to develop resilient solutions while driving impact for our car purchasing experience
    What you should have:
    • A comprehensive understanding of software craftsmanship ideals - clean code principles, unit testing fundamentals, design pattern selection and application, architectural pattern selection, and application
    • BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
    • Experience creating available, scalable, low-latency, global systems
    • Experience debugging and troubleshooting web services, API, and libraries
    • Experience or desire to lead a team of Engineers and coach them in their career
    • At least five years of software engineering, consistently advancing skills and responsibilities.
    • Experienced with JavaScript and TypeScript
    • Strong skills with the React ecosystem
    • Experience in building contemporary scalable solutions, supporting high load and availability, and understanding caching, sharding, and container-based architecture.
    • Experience working with any cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, RedHat, etc.).
    • Experience in contemporary code quality practices, such as writing unit and integration tests, using test coverage, CI/CD, etc.
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects, and rapidly changing priorities.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills are required, especially in representing their technical expertise to a diverse audience.
    • Self-motivated; work well both independently and collaboratively.
    • A positive attitude and an excellent sense of humor.
    • Experience in writing CI/CD pipelines, using Docker and/or Kubernetes, and container-oriented architecture.
    • Experience in using CDN to deliver static content.
    • Experience in working with GraphQL.
