Position Summary:_

Knowledge_
- Working knowledge of juvenile justice system and NJ System of Care
- Basic understanding of NJ Licensing requirements relating to medical requirements for residential treatment programs
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- Understanding of youth behavioral challenges
- Understanding of crisis deescalation techniques

- Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule to accommodate medical emergencies and early/late appointments
Duties & Responsibilities:_
- Coordinate regular and emergency medical and dental appointments as required by NJ Licensing standards
- Research and locate medical and dental providers within the insurance network that will meet the targeted needs for each youth
- Responsible for maintaining the recordkeeping system for medical consents and insurance records
- Work with insurance companies to verify eligibility and coverage for medical and dental procedures
- Obtain monthly Medicaid verification records and distribute to residential, APN, administration and nursing offices
- Prepare notifications for staff when a resident must fast prior to lab work
- Create appointment paperwork packets containing encounter forms, consents and insurance information
- Assist with compiling medical records for discharges, admissions, etc.
- Assist in resolving eligibility and claim issues relating to individual insurance policies
- Transport youth to regularly scheduled medical appointments
- Assist in transporting youth to emergency medical appointments
- Transport youth back to outside school district following medical appointments as needed
- Assist with occasional transportation to nonmedical appointments as requested by Social Services, Residential, etc.
- Assist youth in understanding and adhering to their expectations while in the program
- Assist in deescalating crisis situations
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model
Education & Professional Experience:_
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Sociology or Behavioral Sciences Preferred
- Three years experience working with at risk youth required (this amount of experience not necessary if you have a Bachelors Degree)
Certifications/Licenses Required:_
- Must possess valid NJ Driver License
- CPR certification
Physical Abilities:_
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information
- Seeing to read materials and correspondence
- Dexterity of the hands and fingers to operate business equipment
- Standing, kneeling and bending for short periods of time
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds
- Ability to physically restrain youth that is danger to self or others
- Walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending over at the waist, grasping, reaching overhead, pulling and pushing as required by the job
Pay:
$35,000.00 per year
