Director of Medical Respite Care


Status:
Full-time/Exempt, Salaried.


Organizational Overview


For 26 years, The Boulevard has provided medical respite to homeless individuals who are ill or injured, providing them with a place to restore their health, break the cycle of homelessness and rebuild their lives.

The only facility of its kind in Illinois, The Boulevard's west-side "House" provides a nurturing home for adults a year.

Our program includes access to an on-site health clinic, full-service case management, housing and employment services, and everything our residents need to recover.

In addition to medical respite, The Boulevard provides case management and housing services to an additional homeless individuals and housing
- insecure veterans throughout Chicago each year.


General Responsibilities


The Resident Life Services Manager assists with the coordination of resident life and transportation services for the Medical Respite Care program.

Medical Respite Care is short-term residential care that allows individuals experiencing homelessness the opportunity to rest, recover, and heal in a safe environment while accessing medical care and other supportive services.

This position also works with residents and staff to promote the core values of the organization and to ensure that the needs of our residents are met.


General Responsibilities
The Boulevard of Chicago seeks a passionate, enthusiastic, and ambitious individual to join the Medical Respite Care team.

As the Resident Life and Transportation Services Manager, you will be responsible for:


  • Oversees hiring, training, discipline, and termination of staff as needed.
  • Oversees programservice compliance to contracts assuring that requirements are met on an ongoing basis and prepping for site visits, program reviews and audits.
  • Ensures that the program is functioning smoothly using solutionsfocused, cooperative teamwork.
  • Oversees and implements new resident orientation process.
  • Implements philosophies of service that is delivered in ways that develop client strengths and are consistent with national medical respite care delivery standards and The Boulevard values.
  • Collaborates with leadership and committees on reviewing and updating program policies and procedures.
  • Establishes a framework for accountability to job responsibilities for direct reports and their staff.
  • Leads training for new and existing staff for the Medical Respite Care Program
  • Champions and trains staff in competencies in Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Housing First as a critical part of service practice.
  • Works in collaboration with the case management team and continuing care documentation to meet organizational standards.
  • Coordinates planning of and enactment of program activities for residents with program staff.
  • Ensures all required aftercare for former shelter clients in alignment with our grant expectations.
  • Enters data in all necessary database and information recording systems including HMIS (Homeless Management Information System), and Access and completes exit assessments as required.
  • Provides consistent and ongoing supervision including scheduled performance evaluations, to direct reports.
  • Develops operational efficiencies, checklists, and systems.
  • Conducts team meetings, and participates in All Staff Meetings, and other meetings or events, as assigned.
  • Assists with program audits, representing auditors and auditing agencies alongside program staff.
  • Works with the Director of Medical Respite Care, Director, Clinical Services and Chief Program Officer to review case files for timeliness and accuracy to ensure clients are receiving appropriate service and referrals.
  • Participates in weekly client review and huddle meetings.
  • Collects statistical and anecdotal information for grantsupporting purposes and to evaluate program effectiveness of services.
  • Provides significant milieu presence for staff support and client engagement activities, ensuring that staff are providing a significant presence in the milieu.

  • Must meet all governmental, agency, and grantors' qualifications for the position.
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with the Boulevard staff, volunteers, interns, and collaborating agencies/organizations.
  • Must establish and maintain a visible presence in the program for maximum oversight and guidance.
