Organization:

EMC - Eden Medical Center

Position Overview:

Under supervision, performs duties relative to receipt, preparation and storage of cytological and surgical specimens of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Also performs established functions, such as answering telephones, filing and maintaining all pathology/cytology files, making and distribution reports. Responsible for accurate patient registration and charges applicable to tests for Pathology Department. Also responds and prepares required information and specimens requested by legal and research organizations.

EDUCATION
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:6 months hospital experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to read and speak English

Excellent communication skills:
written and verbal

Must be able to withstand handling of unpleasant specimens and foul odors

Ability to responsible use telephones, fax machines, copy machines, date/time stampers, safety equipment, reference manuals and books, and other equipment commonly used in the department

Ability to use laboratory and hospital computer systems
