- Direct lobby responsibility for state legislative activities on behalf of the company. Assist in federal and local lobbying as necessary.
- Oversee a team of external consultants that will assist in advocating issues on behalf of the company; manage and maintain accountability; educate on key issues
- Collaborate across company divisions to determine strategy, input on policy positions, and resource priorities
- Serve as the liaison between Vistra and certain policy and political trade associations; represent company's views and forge consensus on key issues. Secure leadership roles on priority associations.
- Manage administrative lobby and compliance activities; adhere to reporting and ethics requirements under state and federal laws.
- Support the goals and activities of the Political Action Committees
- Experienced gained through college degree programs and or certifications and five years of government relations experience; prior employment in electric industry is strongly considered. In addition, work related experience as a legislative staffer, elected official or public policy role is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communications necessary
- Ability to travel 50% across the state and in Austin during legislative sessions.
- Passage or defeat of priority state legislation as determined by the Sr. VP.
- Advance political relationships on behalf of the company
- Educate newly elected officials; conduct tours of facilities and oversee company visits
- Represent the company at fundraising events in key districts; coordinate with PAC members
- Track interim and regular legislative session initiatives; determine engagement levels and report to leadership
- Conduct coordination with electric industry on policy activities; lead on certain issues
