    The Food ServiceClerk is responsible for keeping all food service cases stocked andclean during business hours. They are required to assist customersas needed and maintain a friendly, energetic demeanor. Thisposition requires adhering to all procedural guidelines set by theFood Service Department..

    EssentialDuties & Responsibilities

    · Ensurescleanliness of food service cases, storage area, and work area forsafety; includes cleaning of shelves and products, keeping floorsfree of liquid spills or water, removing hazardous debris fromfloor and sweeping.

    · Stocks food service cases;includes presentation of product, facing, filling, and organizationof all product items as set by the Food Service Departmentschematics as well as ensuring tag and pricingaccuracy.

    · Examines the rotation of all foodservice products paying particular attention to expired stock anddiscarding outdated or spoiled items.

    · Respondspositively to customer's inquiries and assists customers withpurchases, information and product selection; requires selling andcross selling of products.

    · Receives, inspects,and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, andquality.

    · Monitors the point of purchase signs;ensures a variety of recipe cards, product coupons, promotionalmaterial, and information on complimentaryfoods.

    · Requires operating and using equipmentsuch as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals,pallet jacks, and hand trucks.

    · Prepares variousfood service items; includes using the appropriate ingredients andproper cooking times for product being made.

    ·Uses knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weighand label products.

    · Participates inpre-inventory preparation; includes back stock and assuring tagsmatch products.

    · Sustains a high level ofproduct knowledge and product preparation.

    ·Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, andoverall clean appearance at all times.

    · Otherduties asassigned.

    Educationand Experience

    · High school diploma orequivalency degree.

    · Preferred 1 -2 yearsgrocery retail experience in Food Service department processes andprocedures.

    · Previous experience in a naturalfoods industry is aplus.

    Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities

    · Must maintainthe highest level of customer service at alltimes.

    · Ability to adapt to the ever changinghigh volume retail while working in a cross-functional teamenvironment.

    · Must have the capacity to takeinitiative when problems arise.

    · Flexibility toadapt in a variety of situations.

    · Must haveadvanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize andmeet deadlines.

    · Excellent verbal communicationand interpersonal skills for dealing cross functionally with peersand senior management.

    · Ability to multitask andhave excellent organizational skills isessential.

    · Must be able to lead, support, andcontribute to team goals.

    · Ability to workvaried hours/days as business dictates.

    · Must befamiliar with Health Department guidelines and regulations as theypertain to a grocery retail environment.

    · Musthave basic knowledge of math, weights, andmeasures.

    · Must have skills working with allfood service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, andovens.

    · Capability to cut and weigh variousamounts of meats, salads, andcheeses.
