Position Summary:


Responsible for developing and implementing public relations and communications plans in support of System Office and Regional Health Ministry Organizations, with a particular emphasis on colleague, stakeholder communications.

Provides communications counsel and hands-on tactical assistance to Regional Health Ministry Organization leadership.

Develops strong working relationships with local media and serves as the local point person for regional and statewide advocacy initiatives.

Writes and distributes various communications materials.


What the Public Relations and Communications Specialist will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, public relations or related area; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Three years of experience in corporate communications, including internal colleague communications and public relations.
  • Strong skills in researching, interviewing, writing, editing, and project management, with an orientation to continuous quality improvement.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including an ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize initiatives.
  • Strong communication / presentation skills (executives, boards, small to midsize leadership groups).

What the Public Relations and Communications Specialist will do:

  • Designs, develops and coordinates PR and communications strategies and tactics to support initiatives arising out of regional and RHM strategic priorities.
  • Provides PR and communications counsel and handson tactical assistance to client departments.
  • Serves on internal and communitybased committees to represent PR and Communications team and support client departments on communication of major projects as needed.
  • Writes and edits a wide range of materials including press releases, media alerts, statements, backgrounders, talking points/key messages, memos, announcements, articles, newsletters, web content, presentations, brochures/flyers, and more.
  • Works closely with Communications, PR/Media Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design and Digital Solutions.
