    72 HourlyDescriptionOrganizational Overview:
    The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers.

    We are two of New York City's leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City.

    Program Description:
    Goddard Riverside has four early childhood centers for working families and their children aged 2 to 5. Each center facilitates classroom activities that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth through the hands-on exploration of science, nature and art


    Purpose of Position:
    The Custodian will ensure a clean and safe environment for our Early Childhood Centers


    Schedule:
    Monday through Friday, hours vary between 7:30 am to 7:00 pm

    Hourly Rate:
    $16.72Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential DutiesMaintain the premises in a safe and clean mannerOpen center (Front Door, Gates) and assure all doors are operableTurn on air-conditioning or heatSweep/mop/vacuum floorsDispose of trash, change trash liners throughout the centerClean windows regularlySweep front of schoolMinor repairs (fix cracks, paint touch ups, minor plumbing)

    Check all safety materials (flashlights, alarms, EXIT signs, outlets)Keep storage areas clean and free of litter and clutterCoordinate service efforts of:
    Fire Safety (ACTIVE Fire), Heating System (Petro Fuel), and Inspections (Dept.

    of Health, NY Fire Dept.)Conduct monthly fire drillsAssist in the cleaning of the kitchen (pantry area included)Schedule regular maintenance of hood and vent, grease trap, fire extinguishersClean and maintain Air Conditioning filtersAssist Administration in planning for center renovationsStore cleaning supplies out of reach of the childrenMaintain inventory and place ordersOrder necessary cleaning suppliesMove furniture as neededParticipate in staff meetings and professional developmentRegularly clean and maintain the playground spaceMust update and maintain cleaning logQualifications/Educational Requirements Experience in custodial workMust undergo funder required background check and fingerprintingWilling to obtain the S-95, F-01 and F-07Must complete all funder required training requirementsSkills, Knowledge and Abilities Ability to read and write EnglishAbility to track inventory and place ordersAbility to make basic repairs (preferred)Physical Requirements Frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbsWork Environment Day Care CenterIndoor/OutdoorsGoddard Riverside and Isaacs Center are equal opportunity employers and considers applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability, marital or veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status.

    This position is classified as a union position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Day Care Council of New York ("DCCNY") and Local 205, Community and Social Agency Employees Union, District Council 1707, A.F.S.C.M.E., A.F.L.C.I.O.

    ("Local 205"),. The union represents employees in the bargaining unit (i.e. Goddard employees in Local 205 union positions).

    The Collective Bargaining Agreement is a written contract that defines the agreed-upon terms and conditions of employment, including wage increases, paid time off and other benefits, and the grievance process.

    All employees in Local 205 union positions at Goddard Riverside are subject to and covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Membership in the union includes the collection of union dues on a monthly basis, to be deducted from the member's Goddard paycheck at a rate to be determined by the union.
