    Job Title:
    Ambulatory Set up TechnologistDepartment : AmbulatoryReports to: Regional Manager

    Job Summary:

    The EEG technologists are responsible for performing potentially 3 different types of EEG tests; Routines, Video Ambulatory EEG testing, and/or set-up of Long-Term EEG study patients.

    This includes preparing the patient for testing, collecting data, and performing administrative items including signing additional paperwork. The Technologist may also be responsible for data communication to servers, and equipment maintenance.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    NoneDuties/Responsibilities:

    Routine EEGs:Performs standard and complex EEGs by measuring the patient's head, utilizing the International 10-20 Measurement System, and applies electrodes to appropriate positions.

    Measures electrode impedance, calibrates and adjusts EEG machine. Obtains recordings, using activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep. Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations and EEG findings.


    Ambulatory EEGs:
    Ambulatory EEGs are set-up and disconnected either at the referring physician's practice, hospital clinic or patient's home. EEG recording is long-term (up to 72 hours).

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessaryGreeting patients at the setup locationObtain a summary of the patient's history and current medications and supporting documentationSetting up the EEG recording and electrodes pm the patient using the international 10-20 measurement configurationPerform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments, if necessaryDemonstrating for the patient, basic functionalities of the EEG recording equipment, the patient event log, recording process and answering any questions from the patientRemaining available for phone conferences and/or remote troubleshooting of EEG recording during the ambulatory recording periodGreeting patients in the location for the disconnect appointmentReviewing the patient event log with the patient for accuracy of times and clinical informationUploading the ambulatory EEG study and attaching the event log onto Company serversRemoving, cleaning and inventorying EEG recording device from patient during the disconnectSet-Up EEG for

    Long Term Patients:

    Provide set-up of Long-term Hospital based EEG patients including, patient prep, lead placement, equipment setup and calibration, in conjunction, working with and orienting hospital staff regarding the EEG procedureProvide technical proficiency for basic digital EEG.

    EEG Technologist will utilize the 10-20 system of electrode placement to include manual measurements, skin prep, and electrode application. Provide proper knowledge of montage selection based on patient condition.

    At the completion of all studies, properly removes electrodes, clean patient/equipment and process documentsProvide critical thinking and skill to recognize and correct artifact accordingly.

    EEG Technologist can successfully trouble-shoot equipment and leads appropriatelyPotentially provide checking of the EEG system during on-going recordings and transfer of data to reading stationRequirementsRequired Skills/Abilities:Ambulatory Technologists are expected to:Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededComply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding Safety and infection control issuesDemonstrate effective written and spoken communication skillsDemonstrate appropriate social skillsDemonstrate ability to follow directionEducation and Experience:CortiCare encourages technologist staff to continue their education.

    It is expected for Technologists to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.


    Physical Requirements:
    Technologists will Lifting as many as two cases, in and out of your vehicle to the testing site.

    Along with moving equipment after setup of the patient to areas of the patient's residence in order to ascertain optimal testing performance.

    Average case weight less than 25 lbs.

    Disconnecting patients is also part of the primary duties of the Technologist, when requested by the patient care coordinators as needed.

    Disconnect Technicians (DT) may be assigned these tasks as they become available, should there not be a DT available the Technologist will perform this task.

    In the performance of this job, the employee may be exposed to chemical vapors such as acetone, ether, or glutaraldehyde.

    There may also be skin contact with these substances. The employee may also be exposed to infectious agents including blood-borne pathogens.

    Driving to the patient testing location is required, and testing will be performed in a variety of testing facilities, locations and settingsCompany Vehicle:

    You may have use of a Company vehicle to travel to and from patient's home for setup and disconnect appointments.

    We try to make a vehicle available per office; however, there will be occasions when personal vehicles must be used:
    Ex. the car is in for repairs, in use by other staff members, etc.
    A CortiCare company vehicle may be used for patient setups and disconnects. When a CortiCare vehicle is used, it is for patient setup and disconnect use only, not for private use.

    Non-Employee Passengers are prohibitedA CortiCare credit card may be issued to use for gas for the company car, oil changes, and pre- approved expenses by direct supervisor or the accounting supervisor in advance of purchaseWhen a company vehicle is not available, the staff member will be reimbursed mileage, tolls and parking fees.

    Rates of compensation are $.30 per mile traveled to and from patient, starting at the office location staff or home, and all reimbursements for tolls, parking, etc.

    will only be reimbursed with a receiptRoutine Maintenance appointments and up keep of the company vehicles are the responsibilities of the drivers of these vehiclesExpenses for the maintenance of the vehicles are CortiCare's responsibility.

    If there are any vehicle issues of any concern, they must be reported to your direct supervisor immediately or as they occur i.e.

    tires, brakes, etc.
    A valid driver's license in good standing is required. Safety of our staff and its property is of utmost importance and driving defensively is encouraged at all times.

    Drivers of CortiCare vehicles are required to observe all state and local laws including but not limited to; seat belt use, observing speed limits, no texting, and hands-free cellular use only.

    Violations for not adhering to laws are the sole responsibility of the drivers involved and may terminate the employees use of company vehicles in some casesBiweekly Odometer Reporting is required when submitting biweekly pay logsCortiCare is an EEOC employer.
