***This is a unique opportunity to join the Lucas Museum's Design Studio at its start. Together with other Lucas Museum colleagues, the Design Studio team will bring brand strategy, visual identity, and ideas for exhibitions, programs, visitor experience, marketing, communications, retail, publications, development, and membership to life across all museum departments. In so doing, the Studio will be designing and producing work that creates experiences, tells stories, expands conversations, and connects people to art and each other.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Utilize project management best practices for detailed project schedules, budgets, and team communication etc. to ensure highquality results, completing projects on time, on budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders
  • Lead logístical planning and implementation of Studio projects, including exhibition graphics, marketing campaigns, digital and print materials, including inhouse publications, and website features
  • Partner with teams across the institution to establish design project schedules and budgets
  • Oversee Production Manager and other staff and/ or freelancers, as necessary
  • Liaise with other teams, departments, and stakeholders to ensure they are wellrepresented, updated on progress and changes, and collaborating within a robust team environment
  • Maintain operational needs of the Studio and make recommendations to the Director of Design for improvement, as necessary
  • Maintain the Studio's filing system, including project documentation, and archiving of current and past projects
  • In partnership with the inhouse Legal team, draft and negotiate design contracts with artists, fabricators, and vendors, and monitor contract deliverables throughout a project's lifespan to ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Review all invoices related to the project submitted by staff. Ensure invoicing is implemented correctly, and all payments are maintained in accordance with the contract schedule
  • Work closely with the Director of Design to develop and maintain systems and workflows that track projects, budgets, schedules, production, files, internal resources, and external vendors
  • Develop and maintain relationships with freelance designers, agencies, and external vendors, and manage and secure competitive bids for external services, as needed
  • Track budgets, expenses, and invoices, and coordinate with the Finance team to ensure vendors are remunerated on time
  • Work with the necessary team(s) to purchase and maintain supplies, equipment, research material, software, and subscriptions required by Studio staff
  • Manage the organization of project files and work with the museum's image and collection databases to retrieve necessary images
  • Coordinate with the Director of Design and relevant design team members on completing and submitting competition entries, as required

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 57 years of design studio management and/ or project management
