    Job Summary

    A unique

    Critical Access Hospital

    located in the rural Pahala region of the Big Island.

    This is a "jack-of-all-trades" role: because it is a small facility with no separate units, the RNs are responsible for the Emergency Room, Acute Care, and Long-Term Care (LTC) patients simultaneously.

    This role requires a nurse with high-level ER skills who is also comfortable managing medication passes and procedures for residents in a cross-functional setting.

    Key Responsibilities


    Universal Nursing Care:
    Provide nursing coverage across the ER, Acute beds, and Long-Term Care wing based on facility census and daily assignment.

    ER Stabilization:
    Serve as the primary ER nurse when patients present.

    In a rural setting like Pahala, this often involves stabilizing high-acuity patients for transfer to larger facilities in Hilo or Kona.


    LTC & Acute Support:
    Perform medication passes, treatments, and procedures for stable acute and long-term care patients when the ER is clear.

    Flexible Staffing:


    If assigned to "Meds," the RN focuses on the LTC and Acute population; if assigned to "ER," the RN remains the first responder for emergencies while providing backup to the floor.


    EMR Documentation:
    Utilize

    Epic

    to maintain accurate patient records across all levels of care.
    Requirements & Qualifications


    Experience:
    Minimum of

    2 years of Emergency Department experience

    is mandatory.

    Licensure:
    Hawaii State RN License.

    Note:

    Certifications:
    BLS/BCLS

    (AHA) required. (ACLS/PALS are highly recommended given the isolated location and ER focus).

    Assignment Details & Expectations


    Schedule:
    6 x 12-hour shifts per two-week pay period. Every 3rd weekend off.

    Arrival Protocol:
    Mandatory arrival by the Thursday before the start date.

    You must attend an Employee Health appointment on Friday. Failure to arrive on time may result in contract cancellation.
