As a world-renowned medical and research center, we strive to provide the best possible care, resources, and benefits for our valued employees. Welcome to Radiation Oncology

Welcome to the Department of Radiation Oncology at UT Southwestern, where state-of-the-art radiation technology meets human caring and compassion. The mission of our department is three-fold: to deliver world-class care on a daily basis to our patients using the most advanced technologies available; to conduct groundbreaking basic, translational and clinical research; and to provide quality education to the next generation of medical practitioners and scientists.

Our doctors, physicists, and researchers have devoted their lives to better understanding cancer and its treatment. Noted for groundbreaking research by our internationally recognized team, we deliver state-of-the art care to patients with all types and all stages of cancer. We are the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in North Texas and one of only 52 NCI-designated comprehensive care centers in the nation. As such, we are held to the highest of standards and are recognized for excellence in clinical care, as well as scientific research and leadership. In addition, we are one of the largest practices in the Southwest.

Unlike many other facilities, our radiation oncologists each have a subspecialty in treating a particular type of cancer, so that the doctors who treat breast cancer are not the same as those who treat brain or prostate cancer. Combining this in-depth expertise with the powerful technology at our facilities, our physicians are enabled to provide superior care to patients.

    Experience and Education

Associate Nursing Degree required, BSN preferred. Minimum experience: one (1) year in critical care (ie. ICU, ED, PACU, Procedural areas) or two (2) years in an inpatient unit. Previous Hematology/Oncology or Radiation Oncology Nursing experience preferred.

Licensure or Certification: Current Texas RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
