Job Description:
Foundry mechanics are often employed in medium and large aluminum and iron foundries. At Franken Guss, they are responsible for operating melting facilities, molding equipment, and die-casting machines.
Training Duration: 3.5 years
Foundry mechanics are trained at both the company and vocational school as part of the dual education system. The vocational school training takes place in Pegnitz in block sessions. Under certain conditions, the training period can be shortened.
Responsibilities:
- Operating, monitoring, and maintaining foundry production equipment
- Melting and alloying of casting metals, monitoring temperature
- Heat treatment of castings
- Demolding and finishing of castings
- Implementing quality assurance measures
- Applying control and regulation technology
Soft Skills:
- Development of social, personal, and methodological skills through training on topics such as values, personality, communication, and personal goal setting
- Participation in apprentice projects
Career Development:
- Qualification opportunities: Participation in courses such as mold making, casting defects, welding technology, and environmental and occupational safety
- Advancement opportunities (after gaining relevant work experience): Foreman, master craftsman, technician, or diploma foundry engineer.
