Overview:

The Digital Spaces Department manages physical and virtual classrooms, specialized learning environments, and other learning environments (e.g., conference spaces, dormitories, dining halls, etc.).

This team makes sure all spaces on campus are suitably equipped with functional and innovative technology that meets the needs of the educational experience and enables the world-class teaching and learning for which UCLA is internationally recognized.

Members of this department also manage the installation and long-term management of display technology across the university.


Responsibilities:


The Manager, AV/IT Operations (AV/IT) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative teams of the Digital Spaces department to ensure services meet quality and efficiency standards.

This will include managing operational logistics, shipping and receiving, facilities management, budget and purchasing, security protocols, digital signage, content management systems, and ensuring business continuity among the Digital Spaces teams.

Scope will include general use classrooms, event operations on The Hill and Luskin Conference Center, enterprise digital signage, BruinCast, digital spaces offices and operations centers, UCLA's administrative conference rooms, and other ITS-managed spaces.


The Manager, AV/IT Operations (AV/IT) will also work in close collaboration with other departments and teams to ensure that the digital spaces team is able to meet the changing needs of the business.

The Manager, AV/IT Operations (AV/IT) will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enhancing the digital learning environments and interactive spaces that support the University's academic mission and community engagement.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

Salary & Compensation:

Qualifications:

  • Five years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, management, customer service, systems administration, engineering, higher education, or a related field. (required)
  • Two years Experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment, or related field. (required)
  • Experience in creating and administering business continuity plans in coordination with multiple stakeholders. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical information to audiences of technical and nontechnical stakeholders. (required)
  • Significant experience working in a projectbased environment using leading project management practices. (required)
  • Extensive experience solving technical and nontechnical problems; able to delegate solutioning when appropriate to the proper resources. (required)
  • Experience operating as a point of escalation. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (required)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (preferred)
  • Seven or more years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, management, customer service, systems administration, engineering, higher education. (preferred)
  • Five or more years Experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment. (preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage largescale logĂ­stical operations on time and within budget. (required)
  • Proven ability to administer large budgets, with experience in enterprise procurement processes. (required)
  • Knowledge of enterprisewide AV/IT integrations and installations, their dependencies, project delivery timelines, and operational needs. (required)
  • Ability to articulate a strategy that motivates others to action. Ability to execute on a longterm strategic vision for digital spaces and event services that aligns with the university's mission and goals. (required)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to mediumsized teams. (required)
