SERVICE TECHNICIAN OPPORTUNITY IN INDUSTRIAL WATER TREATMENT

JOB SUMMARY:


The Service Technician will have the important role of providing service and support for new and existing customers in regards to their water treatment equipment and systems at various industrial/commercial sites This individual will be responsible for creating and building strong customer relationships and being viewed as a trusted partner in water treatment.

In addition to having the opportunity to get exposed to a variety of industrial/commercial systems and facilities while performing regular service and support activities at customer sites, the Service Technician will also have the opportunity to support account start-ups, as needed, which will only serve to enhance learning opportunities that exist within this role


JOB DUTIES:


  • Perform water treatment field testing, preventative, and corrective maintenance on water treatment systems and write related reports
  • Ensure that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customer requests, problems, and concerns
  • Install, distribute and/or deliver equipment and materials to customers as needed
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of equipment when necessary
  • Maintain and be responsible for ensuring equipment and other items are available/onhand for service calls
  • Communicate issues, problems, and service statuses to the sales team as needed
  • Professionally represent the Company by adhering to Company values and consistently ensuring optimal customer experiences
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customers by complying with all applicable safety regulations, learning and understanding the true impact of errors, reporting actual and potential errors (as well as hazardous conditions), and identifying areas for improvement to increase safety, including participation in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required
  • Crosstrain and fill in for other positions within the department as needed
  • Maintain and clean the Company vehicle that is provided for this position
  • Foster teamwork and practice fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation
  • Attend meetings as required and participate on committees when requested
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops
  • Participate in the Company?s performance review program
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn how to conduct equipment inspections and field tests (i.e., boilers, cooling systems, condensers) and perform onsite troubleshooting to correct deficiencies
  • Basic understanding of inventory control systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight or outside of typical geographic radius or work after hours as needed
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
  • Tendency to be a selfstarter with the ability to take initiative
  • Strong computer skills
  • Possession of a valid driver?s license and clean driving record
  • Willingness and ability to cover the assigned geographic territory, driving to all accounts and completing service activities within the region as required
  • Ability to perform work while mobile in the field; extended hours and flexible work schedules are dependent on project and customer requirements
  • Ability to maneuver pails and drums and perform inspection of equipment that could be at elevated heights; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to meet customer requirements for security, safety, and vaccination
  • Ability to work in environments that are loud and nonairconditioned and be exposed to odorous and/or toxic chemicals, steam, and various outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended time periods
  • Ability to perform routine chemistry titration and colorimetric tests
  • Willingness and ability to wear appropriate PPE that is required to be worn in work environments
  • Ability to be fitted with a respirator

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 1 yr. of experience in water treatment, plumbing, HVAC, or facility maintenance
    _or_ an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Associate?s degree in Engineering or other technical field
  • Educational background or experience with industrial water treatment
  • Educational background or experience in chemistry/chemicals used in industrial water treatment
  • Strong understanding of plumbing, pipefitting, pumps/pump repair, and electrical power as they relate to chemical control equipment
