    Description

    Description:

    • Operate mechanical cage washing equipment, autoclaves and other sanitizing equipment.
    • Place processed bedding, feed and related items into assembled, sanitized cages.
    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, detergent and disinfectant use, cage washer and autoclave performance tests.
    • Maintain adequate levels of cage wash chemicals.
    • Perform daily animal health observations, animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals: perform daily water bottle and cage checks, provide appropriate food and water, perform cage changing and cleaning as required per SOP and specified protocols.

    1st Shift 8-4:30pm

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    Animal Care Techs: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Six months experience in research animal care and husbandry preferred.

    Physical requirements for the job: Stand, walk, or move about campus continuously. Lift, carry or move and position objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Ascend/descend stairs regularly.
