Manager Strategic Sourcing (CEX, Inflight & Marketing)

Position Summary


The Manager, Strategic Sourcing (CEX [Customer Experience], Inflight & Marketing) is responsible for partnering with the Customer Experience, Inflight and Marketing teams in developing and executing upon appropriate strategies to effectively manage external spend for categories including Airport/Ground Operations, Aircraft Appearance, Catering, On-Board Product, Marketing, and related goods and services.


The role is the principal owner of the end-to-end supply management process, including market intelligence, financial analysis, sourcing strategy, stakeholder management, and supplier negotiations.

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing (CEX, Inflight & Marketing), will reduce total cost of ownership while meeting key business objectives such as service, quality, and service availability.

The Manager will work closely with supported teams on the development and management of supplier strategies, as well as activities throughout the sourcing lifecycle, including contract management and performance management.


The Manager, Strategic Sourcing (CEX, Inflight & Marketing), should be results oriented, possess highly developed quantitative analysis skills, and be a strong communicator who is able to establish strong, long-lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The Manager is resilient and enjoys interacting daily with colleagues at various levels within and outside the organization, while influencing others to meet a wide range of business objectives.

The Manager should be a confident negotiator who partners well with leadership to continuously drive improvement in business partner performance to exceed contractual and business expectations.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic sourcing projects (using standard sourcing methodologies) for a variety of goods and complex services
  • Manage the category team members to ensure the execution of strategies and daytoday activities
  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing Leadership to create and execute a procurement and category plan that aligns to Company goals, policies and financial expectations
  • Perform analysis of category spend to assist in the development of supply management and channel strategy for the category
  • Manage process and compliance to the sourcetopayment channel strategy for category
  • Develop and execute the supplier management program for the category including supporting diversity initiatives
  • Identify future sourcing opportunities to obtain optimal value for JetBlue and their respective business unit including estimating the cost savings benefits for sourcing opportunities and evaluating Strategic Sourcing performance metrics (key performance indicators [KPIs])
  • Proactively monitor market intelligence trends that impact category and adapt strategy to mitigate risks
  • Conduct regular meetings with business units, advising them on spend management and coordinate the execution of the agreed strategy, address Business Partner and other supply issues, and monitor the progress of the agreed upon strategy
  • Proactively develop and maintain Business Partner relationships in a way that delivers business results, track performance and ensure accountability (performance management) while upholding the JetBlue Values and compliance with all requirements, internal controls and regulations
  • Partner with business unit in budget development resulting from external spend to minimize spend and agree on opportunities while collaborating with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) on the category spend to ensure budget compliance
  • Partner with other Strategic Sourcing managers to ensure alignment and sharing of best practices; disseminate best practices to category team and drive continuous learning
  • Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement and development of the succession plan and for the department
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance or Economics or related; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years of supply management, Airports Operations, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, prioritization of work, & communication skills through a work sample
  • Proficient in procurement and strategic sourcing processes
  • Able to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to liaise with peers and senior leaders both within and across business units
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Comfortable making presentations to senior leadership
  • Proficient in financial, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • Possesses strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills; track record capturing value and savings
  • Available for occasional
