Description
1.0 Position Summary
The purpose of the saw cutter is to safely operate heavy duty saw cutting machinery in an effective and efficient manner.
2.1 The saw cutter reports to the operations manager
3.0 Requirements
3.1 Education
3.1.1 Required: High School Diploma/GED is required
3.2 Licensing, Registration and Certifications
3.2.1 Required: Valid AZ drivers license is required
3.2.2 Preferred: OSHA Certification is preferred but not mandatory
3.3 Experience
3.3.1 Required: Minimum one year of experience saw cutting & coring
3.3.2 Preferred: Proficiency in any or all of the following diamond or demolition tools: wall saw, core drill, flat saw, handsaws, ring saws and / or compressor tools
3.4 Skill, Knowledge and Abilities
3.4.1 Problem solving skills - ability to handle difficult or unexpected situations in the workplace
3.4.2 Able to perform job task independently, as well as, willingness to step up and work with the demo crew as a team, when needed
3.4.3 Able to safely load and unload large concrete saw utilizing a truck mounted lift gate

Body Positions:
Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time

Body Movements:
Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
3.5.3 Strength: Must be able to lift up to 80lbs multiple times during a work shift
3.6 Mental
3.6.1 Mathematical: Must be proficient with a tape measure and take accurate measurements and understand basic math. Verify measurements and cut depths are accurate
3.6.2 Language: Must be able to read and write in English - Spanish is a plus but not a requirement.
3.6.3 Spatial
- The ability to visualize the layout of the job and carry the job out as per the superintendents' specifications
4.1 Climate: Be able to work in adverse weather conditions, heat, cold, etc.
4.2 Travel/Hours: Ability to work days / nights / weekends or out of town if necessary
5.0 Essential Functions
5.1 Material Cutting
- The primary function of a saw cutter is to cut through materials like concrete, asphalt, metal, tile, and masonry
5.2 Precision and Control -Saw cutters are designed to offer precise cuts that maintain the structural integrity of the surrounding material
5.3 Depth Adjustments - Allow for depth adjustment to ensure the blade cuts at the correct depth
5.4 Dust Management - Manage dust and debris for safety and environmental reasons.
5.5 Cooling Features - Utilizewater or air cooling systems to prevent the blade from overheating and to extend the life of the blade
5.6 Safety Features - Utilize, check and maintain various safety features such as blade guards, safety switches, and sometimes emergency shutoffs to protect the operator.
6.1 Collaborate with supervisor and foreman to schedule work and safely perform saw cutting
6.2 Responsible for operation and maintenance of large walk behind saw
Responsible for maintaining work vehicle, saws, equipment, and tools
6.3 Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations
6.4 Make adjustments or create openings in existing structures without causing unintended damage
6.5 Avoid underlying utilities or when materials of varying thickness need to be cut.
7.0 Duties and Tasks
7.1The primary function of a saw cutter is to cut through materials like concrete, asphalt, metal, tile, and masonry
7.2 Completing work orders at each job and turning them into the office by the end of the work day
7.3 Perform daily inspection paperwork and notify supervision of any issues
7.4 Utilize daily job brief and set up jobs accordingly with proper safety measures
8.0 Measurements of Performance
8.1 Punctuality and good attendance are a must
8.2 Willingness and ability to learn additional skills
8.3 Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
8.4 Getting jobs done efficiently - completing a task effectively in an optimal amount of time
